Top Gear Christmas Special

Putting it into google translate...

It wasn't very good. The cars were just side shows - as ever. I find it hard to believe they drive such a wonderful set of cars and form no conclusion at the end of the program!

:p

Its a comedy now has been for years, the cars are just also rans.

<Can of Worms>

I love right on red when in the States, and would welcome left turn on red here in the UK! :p

Yup that would be the one. :p

it's only a problem because of the walkways. Just put red and amber on together for no left turn or something. That way if the pedestrian lights are green you can't go.

But almost every corner in most US cities has a walkway. It would still cause chaos. I don't disagree with it out of town though.:p

thats probably because there is no conclusion to reach really. Clarkson prefers the AMG, he goes into great detail why on his christmas DVD if you're interested. He drives the GT3 and the 458, and decides he likes the SLS best.

The GT3 RS has won evo car of the year so is obviously a special car. Being a porsche fan Hammond is going to prefer it over the AMG / ferrari.

Likewise James is a bit of a ferrari fan, and again the 458 has won tons of praise from journalists so is not exactly a bad car, and james is going to prefer the 458.

Yes a magazine like evo will take everybody's scores, tot them up and work out which is the best. But Top gear isn't a serious car review show. its motoring entertainment.

It would certainly be the SLS for me also. I love the slightly retro yet subtle styling and its presence comes from its sheer class. It doesn't rely on the bling in-your-face styling of the Ferrari. It's the classy brunette to the slutty blonde :p.

someone needs to pin richard hammond down and cut his hair he looks worse than captain slow

Uhm Jeremy made a whole big deal about him and James both having had haircuts.

Good episode i thought, still some cocking about which i enjoy and thankfully none of this "oh no i accidently crashed into you lolololol" or "Oh look james is lost again lolololol"

To the people who didn't like it: For the love of god don't watch the new 'Apocalypse' DVD. It's embarrassingly awful, I and love TG normally :(

From the advertising poster I've seen at the station near work its not true Top Gear, there's no Clarkson in the poster, just Hammond and May?

Correct, there's no Clarkson (he has is own DVD, which is actually pretty good), it's basically just Hammond and May in a really crap episode of TG, which lasts for 90 minutes. It raises the odd smile, but overall it's just........really bad.

Don't think this has been mentioned yet, James May had a pretty nasty accident during the filming of the 3 Wise men show :-

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/media/tv-radio/top-gears-may-injured-in-accident-2168319.html

Apparently he said "Hammond hit his head on the whole of Yorkshire, I just bumped mine on a stone".

Bit of a tit for standing on the tow rope though. :p

However, respect for a TV show that actually does things where people can get injured (ie not totally HSE obsessed).

Jeremy falling off his scooter on the vietnam special springs to mind, that was hilarious :D

Or Jeremy driving his Magnum through a brick wall :D
Or Jeremy driving his Volvo with a broken speedo into a brick wall :D

Watched this episode today and quite enjoyed it, missed a lot of the banter because I had to share the room with the parents yapping so will watch again tomorrow.

The big question was left unanswered, though.

What does it taste like?

I think the "Christmas presents" news section was a microcosm of TG as a whole - very good until it became too obviously staged.
