Poll: Do mods do their job properly ?

Would you like OcUK to change the way it moderates race/immigration/muslim threads?

They should make a separate sub forum for people who like to read newspapers and get outraged. Oh wait... there's speakers corner they could all **** off to.

How can drawing a fictional character be upsetting?

Correct, the Islam thing is a problem, but i am more concerned with peoples political views.

We have some hardcore politicians here.

The mods have done a good job in my opinion in keeping the ramadan/eid threads and things of similar religious nature toned down by people that would like to cause offense or derail the thread.

The same can be said about xians/atheists threads.

Lets also think to our selfs , when have we ever had a merry xmas threads and Muslim members posting "kill the infidel" etc.

Everyone should respect each other.

I feel their shouldn't be any censoring.

Just more heavy handed when it becomes heated and people are looking to incite hatred to a particular group.

For example mathewhotdude homo threads, I end up getting banned for trying to make a scientific argument about homosexuality being wrong.

on the opposite end of the spectrum. I end up getting a infraction and ban for suggesting a body building performance drug. I wasn't even offering to sell it or suggesting I took it. I only mentioned the name of it and I got in trouble for inappropriate language.
 
I voted Pancake. Because I feel although sometimes the mods are slightly too strict (Like the ONE MINUTE I had no image in the random image thread - changed it - then got it removed from a mod and banned for 48 hours -- I'm not still raging... much :p), they normally make the right decision :p
 
Mods do the job just fine imo. Sure there are things that could be improved (updating stickies for starters!) but for the most part I think they do a grand job. I've modded a couple of forums myself and it isn't easy, sometimes a judgement call has to be made to stop things getting out of hand while the temptation to let things take their natural course is also appealing :D. The trick is to be consistant imho which is difficult here, given the amount of moderators, each with there own opinions but for the most part they succeed.

I'm agnostic. I don't practice any religion.

I believe firmly you should respect everyone. Race/religion/sexuality.

There is no problem in arguing as long as you don't cause offense.

Religious scholars from Islam and Christianity and Judaism cant have debates and civil discussion. why cant we.

No need to be a hater.
 
From what I've seen - things are fine. Maybe sometimes they are too harsh or too soft on certain things but they are after all only human.

Absolutely not.
One are topics I'm not bothered about and the other is a topic that is insulting our own Muslim posters even if I go into it or not.
One of our main rules is not to insult other members.
I wanted to see a good debate about the topic but it turned into complete and utter insult (whether I clicked on it or not).

And here is the problem OCUK.
It doesn't matter what you and I think of a fictitious character but we have members who do believe in such stuff and it is against OCUK rules to insult them.
 
The mods do keep things fairly in order but from time to time some things seem to slip!

I got a 24hour suspension recently for qouting on a thread but included the picture that was posted when it was stated not to. Then count forward a few pages and somebody else with a post count of 15.000+ does the same but with 5 or 6 pictures and was left alone!

I felt like being anal about it but you know I kinda realised I will not get anything but flamed or ignored for it. Its ok for one but not the other sometimes.
