Anyone Dislike Christmas?

I like seeing the looks on my kids faces when they open pressies and all the excitement from them, reminds me of being a kid. Other than that it costs me a small fortune every year, is very tiring and means I have to rush work to get things done in time. So a bit yes/no from me so I vote : Okay I guess.

Christmas to me is a time when I get to see my father for the second or third time of the year, and my extended (only his side, who are now estranged from my mothers side) of the family for the one time of the year. They are all (besides my father) pretty much semi-strangers to me now, the only bond being our blood, and I enjoy the overall experience a lot less than when I spend time with my regular friends.

It really saddens me deep down to say the above, but that's my christmas.

What he was saying (though to me it wasnt a difficult concept to grasp) was that not enjoying christmas isn't a sign that you're doing anything "wrong", it all depends on your situation and circumstances. The worlds troubles don't dissappear magically because of one imaginary holiday.

That's nothing to do with not enjoying Christmas though. In fact what you just said is completely the point I was making.

An 'imaginary' holiday (as you put it) should have absolutely no bearing on whether you are happy\sad\angry\etc. Real events should control that.

If the fact that it's Christmas, suddenly means that you go from being happy to miserable, then you're probably doing something wrong.

I am indifferent. I enjoy the time off and catching up with my friends as they come back from uni but think a lot of it is a load of rubbish. Some people get so stressed trying to create the 'perfect' day that they ironically don't enjoy the day what's so ever.

People seem to generally turn in to monsters over the holiday period. :D

I love it. It's not really possible to keep up with all my old friends and Christmas is a good time to catch up.

It's an awful waste of money but it can be nice to see family you don't see a lot. I guess it beats Halloween at least there's nobody to knock on your door every 10 minutes.

I really hate the commercialisation of it, seeing adverts about sales all the time is very annoying.

Usually it's not that bad. This year however I can't wait til I get back to uni again... No more revision and seeing people again I want to see. Must be getting old now as I find home so boring when I come back. Doesn't help at home that all my friends are either married (and not interested in doing anything) or have moved away...

Then your post was inadequately expanded on to start with, because it was easily misinterpreted.

i hate it - its just an obligation to do things i don't want to do and see people i don't particularly want to see. bah humbug!
