Same here, when I told a friend I posted here he said "Overclockers? Isn't that the IT department of the BNP?". I guess mud sticks.

That's probably because this forum actually allows people to have an opinion, rather than stifling all conversation on such things.

Why the hell would you want to mention eating a bacon sandwich in a Ramadam thread?
Only one reason - to troll and upset.

To show just how pointless their whole refusal to eat pork and decision to not eat during day light hours are ...

That's because the forum logo looks a bit like the BNP logo :D

But it's the same way as PistonHeads is accused of being a "Tory" forum because the predominant view of the posts there is right wing, while the predominant view of the posters on OcUK is anti-unskilled immigration I guess.

Poll is vague, change could mean ban the brits, ban the muslims, lock the thread, dress up as faeries...

vote for change! ??

You are likely to get about as much change as Obama brought to the USA when he replaced Bush ... ie sweet fa

But it is trolling.

I don't really understand the whole troll mentality. Why anybody would purposefully want to upset anyone else when they have done nothing wrong is simply beyond me.

But it is not trolling, it is me disagreeing with their false point of view and showing them the error of their ways

If you are 'merely' disagreeing with them and showing them the error of their ways, then you are doing it in the least respectful and most offensive way possible.

It's the same sort of retarded logic as criticising Islam for not being tolerant and simultaneously relishing and supporting the drawing of cartoons of Muhammed.

Or, my own pet peeve, the retarded logic of critcising creationism whilst waving the banner of that stupid fish with legs, which is essentially being insensitive to parts of the bible that have nothing to do with creationism.

What do you hope to achieve, really?

But it is not being insensitive since there is no such thing as religion ... that is the point you are missing.

It is only insensitive if you are prepared to admit that there is religion, but since it is just a bunch of fictional stories ...

It's rather sad that your insensitivity stems from your belief that you are right and that everyone else is wrong and should be made an example of.

Just sounds like 'the enemy' to me.

I hope you change your opinions in the future.

It seems a bit unfair that religious people get special protection and conspiracy theroists are fair game.

Conspiracy theories are scientifically testable. Religious claims are not. So the approach has to be different.

well that's just not true.
In the sense that there is no god and they all believe in fairy stories rather than truth/reality ...

In what way are religious claims not scientifically testable?

Was the universe created as per Genesis? We scientifically know NO.
and so on

You really are struggling with the logic at work here, aren't you?

You're also extremely egocentric.

And once again what would posting about eating a bacon sandwich in such a thread prove other than making you look a dick?
Hi Mr Muslim, I'm eating a bacon sandwich, aren't I kooool?
No, you're a dick.

To us atheists there are no Gods BUT there are most definitely religions.
There are over 200,000 different religions around the world so religion does exist.
That is the point you are missing and you (like me) are in the minority.

There are religions in the same way that there are tooth fairies ... a fictional story/character ... but nothing that you have to show respect about/to

Ot but semi related, any chance of getting a youtube tag button like the quote/img tag one?

irritating having to type it out each time.

To be fair, I think it has to be appreciated that god is about as scientifically falsifiable as the tooth fairy (not that the tooth fairy is a conspiracy theory).

However, the former regards phenomena that as of yet cannot be explained and, far more importantly, is something people base their entire lifestyle and philosophy on. Accordingly, it's something that we should hold in a higher regard because it's something that matters truly and sincerely to others and we should live our lives by being considerate to others.

On a side note, I was recently told that if I said god might exist, then it was logically inconsistant to say that Santa Claus definately does not exist. I think arguments like that are complete rubbish because they ignore the fact that people are free to exercise judgement and chose to believe one thing as discard another (in addition to the fact that a 'god' choses to explain an unanswerable question whilst Santa Claus does not).

No I think it's more to do with threads from the not too distant past and who they were posted by. The forum is certainly a different/better place than it used to be.
