*****Ultimate Football Manager 11*****

^ u mean vadlec kadlec? excellent youngster, compulsary buy for me. I played blackburn today and thankfully my team came away with a 3-0 victory and no reds and no yellows! Currently first place 3 points clear of newcastle, beat chelsea at stamford bridge 1-0, won 7 out of 8 games so far, no defeats, happy days! Just hope i can continue the run and win some stuff, built a reputation and then after two seasons hopefully get a job at liverpool!

I must say Villa have a really good squad, haven't had to do any rebuilding of the team, just added around 7 players to add depth, mostly youngsters, the most expensive buy being Affelay. Agbonlahor is a total goalmachine!

Most of my training is now 4 star, apart from shooting where i mucked up with contract of a coach, so hopefully team will improve more, struggling mostly on keeping possession, think i need to play less direct and slower tempo, but then counter-attacking play will suffer, hmmm...

I just started my first game in FM2011, chose to start off with villa, but i'm having some serious problem with dicipline, i'm only 6-7 weeks into the season and so far around 5 of my players have been sent off, and they are getting a lot of yellow's in matches too, how i can sort out the dicipline? i went easy on the first few players but issued a warning to the last two, but i fear that won't stop it and its getting worrying, especially when your losing key plays in a game then through bans.

Also is there anyway to change a role of a staff? when i signed a coach, i accidently signed him up as a youth coach and obviously i cant assign a training schedule for him.

Cheers

Fine folk who get red cards (a weeks wages is usually enough). If the players ever revolt after what they believe is an unfair fine, just tell them to sod off because you're the manager - always works for me :P

Also, when you set the opposition instructions before a game, don't set anyone to tackle opponents hard - you pick way too many cards up for very little gain.

^ they'll just revolt! lol it was hard enough winning them over as a new manager, i'll just ruin the dressing room atmosphere, discipline has improved in the last two games i have played after the warnings I gave, and when i was doing a press conference I said that the discipline was worrying, so that must have helped get the message across.

and the tackling opponent hard, i did choose those in the first 2-3 games on the back of the advice of my staff, wont be listening to those monkeys again! lol

The very same one - got me through my Champions League semi-final with a hat-trick against Wolfsburg!

I'll do a big update hopefully at some point tomorrow :)

Yay! :D

I think ill be kicking Adkins out fairly soon for my saints game, iv just lost about half my Burton dream le champ team to them not wanting to resign for me (and all being under 24 they go on free's killing the game)

Why is that sometimes when other clubs try to sign your coaches and they sign instantly so it doesn't give you a chance to offer them a new contract? Kind of annoying.

Had this happen with Man City.

I signed one of theirs, they signed one of mine, I signed one of theirs again to replace him, they did the same, I finally did once more from them, and then it stopped :P

Sheffield Wednesday update.

Well, started a game as Sheffield Wednesday. Used the latest update + information pack thing provided by SI on their forum / website.

Comments;

  • First season involved a lot of luck, picked up a knack for getting late goals to win / draw games. (Didn't use the save > reload if I lost as I didn't lose, which was surprising)
  • Loan signings have all been fantastic (Good job on my part that ;) ) The two Liverpool lads are immense. I'd extend that to anyone else playing, the guys I got in on loan first season and the guys I bought second have all been fantastic and if you wanted a bit of help at who to bring in on loan or pick up cheap go for those guys. Thomas from Arsenal is good in lots of different positions :)
  • Spent way too much money on promotion to the Championship (9 million over budget :o), but I felt that I had to push on for back to back promotions, so I bought players that should be good enough to get me up and help keep me there.
  • Not happy with the squad, happy with my first 11-14/15 I guess but after that the lack of depth really starts to show. Will attempt another clear out at the end of this season.
  • Got taken apart by Everton last season in the League Cup (They went on to beat Spurs in the final :o)
  • Have been knocked out of all Cup competitions, been putting 100% focus on the League. My unbeaten run is incredible and as I said, I haven't saved > replayed any games.
  • My Advice would be, sort out your wages and look to try and set a max and don't go over. Bring in coaches and scout lots (you can still do this with limited area's to scout), always keep an eye out for out of contract / transfer listed players, and keep the formation simple and play to your strengths / play players where they want to be played.
  • Using an odd 4 - 4 - 2 formation, working very well, do tweak dependant on opponent and player rotation.

WHEY! Nice one tummy with the 5-0 :D (Last season I beat them 6-0 at home which was a surprise)

Strange tip but keep a fair few players on your short list and as the seasons progress (3-4 in ) some players get stuck in the reserves, I use Fabian Delph and Nacer Barazite as the best examples, and they get offered to you for large sums, dont pay it (as no one else gets in on them either) and wait for them to be released. If you lucky (and pay a fair bit to the agent) you can get them in on free's and just blow the wage budget on them. My 2 examples are some of the best le champ players iv seen in FM, just so upset when I couldnt give Nacer a better contract....

Also nice one for getting Shelvey! Iv tried to get him on loan almost every season and now he's 1st team at liverpool :( (never wanted to join me on loan for some reason...)

The unbeaten season is impressive, I did it last year as soton without the save thing but its really hard to ensure you get good enough signings in at the start of the season to get the team working together quickly (and cups are never important as we learnt with the johnstones paint trophy last year in real life)

Does Pacheco and Shelvey's stat improve in your game?

I tried getting them both on loan at Villa, but Liverpool didn't want to let them go, ended up buying Verrati (fantastic player!), Kums and Affellay, another top player.

Btw how do you bring your players back down to earth when they become too over confident? especially against weaker sides.

Got this for Christmas but I just recently came back to 2010 and finally starting hitting my stride with that so not sure whether I want to make the jump, hmm.

Pacheco gets champ quality-ish... Shelvey is more or less the new gary barry, well sort of, he looks a brilliant midfield like lampard player on 30k a week... (not bad for an ex charlton player)

11 GO GO GO!!! New players, teams updated and AGENTS! (makes contracts new a weird)

Two words - Javier Pastore.

The Utd board did my negotiations for me and came up with a £31m bid for him.

Early signs are that he may be worth it.

Just got this for Xmas. Where's a good place to get logos, facepacks, kits, etc? Preferably somewhere I don't have to jump through hoops to get the stuff.

I'm sure it's in this thread somewhere, but I don't wanna sit through 40 pages on Xmas day :)

Thanks - and merry Xmas all!
