Emptying washer fluid

5 litres of concentrate for £3.85 ;)
Yeah, concentrate was of course cheaper, but I can't be arsed with that.
Open bottle, put funnel in cap, pour liquid, close cap. Job done.

Anyway, this was some nuclear grade -20C ****.

Open bottle. Put funnel in cap. Pour in half the liquid. Fill rest with water from hose. Close cap. Job done :p

Focus has them so it would be poor show if a Mondeo didn't. Anyway it's not hard to see, just open the bonnet, are there wires going into the jets?

To defrost the pipes , I'd try boiling water all over the tank and pump and the jets, if that fails just chuck it in a garage and put a fan heater under it for a couple of hours much easier than taking it apart..

For screen wash I'm currently using 95% methanol 5% water, its a waste product from my Biodiesel production so free and good down to about -90 degrees :)

And will rot out the pipes, tank, damage the windscreen rubbers and pump internals.

It's not an exterior issue, my hoses are patted down with a luke warm sponge when defrosting the car everyday. Generally run the car for 30-50 minute motorway trips so that should be plenty of time.

cold air rushing through engine bay means that water tank will be sub 0 still.

i had to park up for 30minutes to get mine defrosted. stupid tesco stuff only works down to -2c when undiluted! its like 50% diluted when you buy it

got some halfords stuff (-37c diluted to -10c) and its still going strong... although its not dropped below -3c yet. Doh. lol.

how do you know what mixture you have though?

half the bottle of screenwash + rest water may be like a 10% mix in some cars.

Just mix it up in a jug, easy peasy. Asda stuff must have changed since last time I bought it though, I filled up with roughly 80% mix and now it's frozen again, that's never happened before.

Yeh I found the same with Tesco stuff. I mix it in old bottles and on the old bottle it says -10c. Yet the new ones say just -2! Same product, same barcode.

Read the bottle, duh.

I think you missed my point? You are saying put half a bottle in and then top up with water but how do you know how much screen wash is in the tank already? Do you know how big the tank is? etc. 50% of the screen wash bottle then topping up with water doesn't make it a 50% mix in the car. Half a bottle then filling up the rest of the tank with water may lead to a 90% mix on something like a i10, but on bigger cars with bigger tanks could lead to a really weak mix? Id rather premix the stuff before putting it in a tank i cant even see, that way its always got the correct mixture?

But then does it really matter

I've had exactly the same problem with my car for the last week.. The temperature in Liverpool hasn't really gone about -5C and mines frozen solid. No noise from the pump or anything. I have heated washer jets but the bottle is right down in the front of the car away from the engine so has all the cold air hitting it when I'm driving.

Even managed to blow the fuse on the jets for my headlights as they got too frozen up..

I'm using the Asda stuff in my car, its crap. Its pretty much neat in there and its still frozen! :(
