My cat escaped, now they're being weird

My cat escaped earlier, I'm still not sure how!! Only thing i can figure is someone opened my door, let the cat out and ran off thinking OHSHI!

Anyways, that's not the problem.

Now they're being weird, My cat and the other cat I have are growling and howling at each other. They've lived together for YEARS, without doing this. So its definitely because he's been outside. They're housecats btw.

I'm just a little confused as to how being outside for a bit would cause this

Ha, hopefully not. Its a dude cat, and he's been done! and even if he hadnt been done, he's a dude cat, so getting up the duff would be like...almost impossible

I've got his bedding and gave him a rub down with it lol. dunno if it'll help, but i figure it'll maybe counter foreign smells. Wash his bedding then obviously

I had two house cats, sisters, one escaped, obviously slept with a few tom cats, when we found her and brought her back, they didn't get a long. 6 months later we had to separate them as they never did make up.
