2010 OcUK Motors Review/Recap thread.

What do you mean 'the best thing to call you up on'? I'm genuinely interested as to why you thought the V6 to be lazy, as my brother owned one and it didn't seem that way at all.

Or is this just another one of your flippant comments with no real basis? Your very defensive and overreactive reply suggests maybe that is the case?

Flat torque curve and linear power delivery - Hardly what I'd call a peaky, needs to be worked engine, now is it?

Compare that to a vtak y0 graph

Most 6 pots are what I call lazy, and just because this one revs does not mean my initial assumption was incorrect.

Of course this is completely subjective, and my opinion, so if you disagree then I don't really care as this is just one of many reasons why the FTO does not appeal to me.

Edit: edited so as not to hotlink images.

On the subject of FTOs, I thought I'd find out a bit more about them.

It would seem there is one model worth considering, but it is super-rare and expensive. But on the same ethos as the DC2, it is a lightweight model with sound deadening removed and an LSD.

There seems to be just one for sale at the moment though, and it is £6k - this is worse than the DC2 in terms of 'value' and everyone who sees the car will just think its another £2k FTO.

So you got your wish, I reconsidered the FTO and it still does not appeal :)

What about second hand i10 that was almost the same price as a new one. The op was adamant he had a cracking deal and the i10 was epic.

This one would rank right up there for me, possibly because I actually got fairly involved in that thread and just end up with a headache in the end ...so pretty typical really I suppose.

Also the many threads we get where someone 'asks' for advice and then shoots it down when they don't like it and claim to know best ...yea, you can usually tell when it's going to go that way within the first few posts though.

I guess I must have been really ...boring since I got rid of the 540i though, I don't think I have actually started a single thread in motors since, as my Jag hasn't broken or made any worrying noises :) ...and my relatively newly bought socket sets have sat dormant.

Also I would like to give a big hat tip to Joshy, like Fox said earlier in the thread, what a turn around ...I don't ever recall seeing a turn around like that in OcUK Motors history.

Oh no, it's now got graphs, we're doomed. Mike you are special that much is true, when you post it's typically JUST A NOISE. You should be called Mr Tangent because you're forever going off on them and never seem to conclude anything because most of what you post comes across as a selection of brain farts. I don't read the details so I may be wrong but that is what, from a distance in my ivory tower, it seems like.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA @ deciding what cars suit you based on a graph.

Seriously, lol.

The very reason why I didn't LIKE the FTO my parents had was because it was NOT lazy and needed working HARD to deliver performance. It was basically a 6 cylinder VTEC - if you didnt thrash it and get it into MIVEC, it wasn't that quick, when you did work it hard, it was quick.

I prefer lazy 6 cylinder engines. The FTO didnt have one.

I drove an FTO for years, you looked at graphs on the internet.

:D

I don't personally care what you buy, I just find your 'thought' processes and decisions you make hilarious. I think they are funny because you are convinced you know what you are talking about :D

I have to go now, my services stop is over, 120 miles down 400 to go :(

Driving yourself to Germany won't get you away from Mike's threads.

There you again, selectively omitting parts of posts and discussions to suit your agenda of attempting to defame people you argue with, rather than actually providing a decent argument.

This was just one reason why the FTO did not appeal to me, but Wicksta was pushing on this point so I answered his question.

The fact that anyone can still think I'm wrong when people are still telling me that I shouldn't buy the car I want by providing loads of alternatives that I do not like, is a pure joke. It isn't even like the car I want is a bad choice of car - they are arguing because it is me.

These arguments exist because people look for something to pick at, which is obvious by the amount of people who selectively pick on individual points whilst completely ignoring the valid arguments for my "case".

Says it all, really.

they are arguing because it is me.

Ask yourself this - is it because the whole forum has a vendetta against you personally or is it because you repeatedly make posts that just cry out to picked apart?

I suspect I know which answer you'll pick and i'm pretty sure it won't be the same as the one most others would.
