Just saw on the beeb that poor Miss Yeates was strangled to death from the post mortem.

Extremely sad news and for me particuarly frightening since I live smack bang in the middle of Clifton and frequent all of those places she visited the night of her disappearance. I would never think twice about telling a girl that it was perfectly safe to mooch around Clifton late at night, which is possibly the most safe and 'proper' area I know of. Apparently not. Since there is evidence that she made it back to the flat after going to the shops, it's possible that her killer just knocked on the door and took her away

I hope the killer is found and brought to justice and think it's worth saying that everyone should take care and be cautious with strangers, because you never know where a pycho might be lurking.

(And on the slim chance that anyone thinks they might know something, contact the police).

I think there's mentally unstable people all over the place, and it only takes one final push in their obviously troubled lives to get somebody to think about doing something as horrible as murder.

This was a tragic event, and the motives unknown for now but it's definitely not the last of it's kind and who knows where the next victim of some nutter will be.

Obviously strange when things happen on your own doorstep, and for all you know you could easily have passed the murderer in the street, or bumped into them unknowingly in a shop.

Lets hope somebody finds them soon.

Indeed its sad that they found her body, her parents and bf are grief stricken as you would imagine.

RIP Miss Yeates and i hope they find the scumbag who took away her life so callously.

Terrible news, we have been watching this nightmare unfold over the last week or so. Felt really bad for the family being filmed as they visited the lane where Joanna was found. I'm fairly confident that they will find the killer as this was hardly a well thought out murder if her body was just left to be found. My sister lives in Clifton and it brings it so close to home when something like this happens right on your doorstep.

RIP Joanna Yeates

I also feel bad for the couple that found her. I bet their xmas will also never be the same and walking, which seems to be a hobby of theirs wont ever feel the same.

Agreed that nutters are everywhere and unfortunatly the modern society isnt doing anything to reduce it.

RIP

My mum is now more worried for me on the streets of Bristol too.

These things are so rare - it's awful - but there's no need to lock yourselves in, I certainly won't be. I mean, that gunman earlier this year terrorised sleepy little Yorkshire (?) villages.

Poor woman. Poor family :(

it really drives it home when you shop in the shops on the CCTV, and when members of your cycling club are trying to remember if they saw anything suspicious when they rode past the spot her body was found between her disappearance and it being discovered...

have to wonder where the pizza is though?

maybe the GM foods have went to far and it done her in and skipped the country?

When I first heard about the story there were images of her on CCTV in the tescos. I had no idea what it was about and there was no sound on the TV.

I just remarked "that's the clifton tesco! Those self serve machines are RUBBISH".

Pretty chilling when I found out what had happened.

My guess is she got home and interrupted a burglary, either that or the boyfriend.

No sign of break in, boyfriend was away.

expected news and very sad. The fact she made it home and no struggle/break in to me would make me thin, it's someone she knows, jealous person. All speculation and will have to wait and see.

a panicked burglar doesn't make any sense tho, he would have to had to lead her to where she was found before killing her, or killed her at home & taken her body to where it was found.

usually burglars who are disturbed in the act of burglary accidentaly/intentionally kill when/where there discovered, not walk the streets with there victim/victims body. it's far too risky.

she was murdered for a reason, & i don't think robbery was it.
