Washing Car?!

Don't use washing up liquid, it's bad for your paint and metalwork. Just use plain warm water if you've nothing else :)

Do one wash with just water to get all the mud off, then do it again with a clean bucket of water to get rid of any residue or remaining dirt. Give it a wipe down after with a clean cloth if you've got one :)

Just buy the cheapest wash/wax stuff you can find when you are next at a supermarket. Cant be much more than a quid for a bottle which will last ages.

tbh if you can't afford to wash your car you may as well throw it in the river

It depends. Some people think you have to have the top wash, polish, clay, wheel cleaner, wax, sealant etc etc or you might as well not bother. If you go that route it is serious cash.

Personally I have a mix of mainstream stuff such as Meguires, Autoglym and Turtle Wax and have in the past got cars looking pretty good with the cheap stuff like Tripplewax and Car Plan.

Whatever he goes for it will be better than Fairy Liquid

I used to wash cars as a kid on a Sunday with a mate we bought one bottle of turtlewax shampoo and re filled it with my mums washing up liquid, no one complained. It'll be fine

The fact they let kids wash their cars in the first place says enough about the likelyhood of them complaining.

How do you wash all the salt and other winter detritus from the underside without going to a car wash?
I can't help but feel all the lambswool-mitted washing is a complete waste of time if you go to a carwash and scratch it all up nicely for the undercarriage..

Just buy a huge thing of car shampoo for £5 from the supermarket/costco/halfords.

If you can't afford £5 on that, should you really be driving... ;)
