Ignorant iPhone users

But that is part of what makes iOS great, the average user wants to easily get the most out of his kit quickly.

For non techys, android taking that long to find functionality will inevitably mean they will never use/or find it!

It's not that it takes that long to fiind functionality because it's already there in the open, the bits that take time to find are nice little touches here and there that improve the overall experience, stuff that you'd not think of otherwise. There was none of this on ios4.

  • He said Galaxy S - Not Nexus S
  • The Nexus S isn't £550, it's £430
  • Skyfire Flash isn't flash, it's server side encoded and as a result, can't do interactive flash content or TV streaming content

Whilst I agree that the Nexus S really is crap (I hate stock Android and Samsung mobile phones), your post pretty much twisted the facts in order to defend the iPhone.

I was comparing the latest Android phone with the latest iPhone using the RRP? It was irrelevant to what phone he has.

 The arrogance of the OP is just amazing! How arrogant can one person be! Just because your friends don't know what Android is doesn't make them ignorant. Maybe they just don't follow technology so don't really care? Not everyone follows mobile phones and operating systems for a hobby.

It amazes me how arrogant a lot of tech people are when it comes to others not knowing about something and the tech person thinking they are stupid because they have never heard of it! When I go biking and don't know something about bikes, you aren't called stupid but people enjoy talking about it and explaining. Never understood what it is with the tech people that think anyone who hasn't heard of the latest technology is stupid/ignorant

Because it's the only skillset that has a habit of coming coupled with a general lack of social understanding :p

I spent Xmas weekend with 2 iphone 4s and put them side by side with my Desire running Gingerbread.

Apart from the amazing video camera capabilities of the iPhone 4 (which I used to record the comparisons) I couldn't find anything extra to wow me. Even the much famed Appstore wasn't that great in that a lot of free apps on Android were pay for on iPhone.

The youtube app was also poor compared to the latest Android youtube app which allows you to do much more without leaving the video.

And then there's the lack of options. I kept wondering "there has to be more options here" but there wasn't, the only options are in Settings where you can customise various stuff but it's nothing major.

The Android browser loaded webpages much faster than iPhone 4 as well and you had more of the webpage in view regardless of the higher iPhone 4 resolution, this was due to the Safari browser's bulky toobars and whatnot.

There's much more I learnt too but it doesn't really apply here but I was pretty much familiar with the iPhone 4 within the first hour because I'd done everything in it out of the box that could have been done and played with. I recall spending a good few weeks at least finding new little bits here and there when I got my Desire.

To be fair though, your Desire is not really comparable is it? :p - I don't know much about phones but you appear to have done just about everything possible and more to your Desire which I would say 95 percent of normal Desire owners wouldn't.

You didn't play around with the iPhones for 'a good few weeks' either :p So there may still be stuff which you haven't found yet.

That's true but apart from having root functionality only in 3 apps I use almost daily (Titanium Backup, ShootMe and MyBackup Pro) I don't really see the level of customisation on my Desire to add or take away from my comparison points being made though! Yes my phone being rooted allows me more control over my choice of OS and its powers but out of the box A DHD/SGS/Desire etc are far more powerful multi-communication devices than any iOS device currently out and it's thanks to the vast and free community out there doing stuff for it.

Also, I only needed to use it for the weekend as my own phone, setting it up, importing contacts, customising and so on. The level of stuff you can do on it only lasted that long based on my usage requirements for a net connected mobile device.

Didn't have any dropped calls or reception issues though, on 3 as well...

Both the iPhone and Android would've failed miserably without Rovio, true story ;)

That £550 was CPWH's unrealistic pre-order price not the final RRP of £430 (still expensive compared to the Galaxy S)

What group do you fit into if you use Android on an iPhone?

Into an idroid group ;)

All I can say is that I am a multi user. I have a HTC Phone + iPhone. The prices of the iPhones are really steap compared to the HTC phones but the iPhones do things more fluently. iOS is very rich compared to the Android OS.

I like both OSs on Android/Apple, however nobody has the right to call some one ignorant just because they own a certain type of mobile phone.

Well it's difficult to explain the pro's of Android when most people couldn't give a stuff as long as it works and is pretty!

As far as Android has come, on face value iOS is still the slicker OS and the whole package is a dream for someone who want's a swish phone that does pretty much everything joe bloggs want's to do on their phone.

Apple users tend to be more obnoxious too, just youtube obnoxious apple users and see the results :p

.... and some Android nerds can be just as obnoxious. You would have thought they would find something else to hold in their hands all day long. ;):D
