****Official Fallout New Vegas Thread****

I'm gonna hit this bad boy hard today. I sorta did maybe 7 or 8 quests but I haven't really been paying much attention. I'm gonna start again today and really get into the characters and the story.

How long does it take for you to be able to get your own place to hoard all of your stuff in? The best bits of Fallout 3 for me were just going out into the wastes on scavenging missions, or deliberately going into high density enemy areas just to waste them and loot all of their stuff. Someone told me I can use the Doctor's place at the beginning of the game to stash stuff in but can anyone confirm that? I'm scared that I'll hide a load of stuff there and then return to find it has disappeared. :o

There are some boxes there you can put stuff into :)

Next up after that would be Novac hotel room which has a bit more space before the strip.

Thanks. :)

(I think) I'm fairly close to getting to Novac, I've just got to Nipton and now I'm headed out to help some slaves who were taken away by the Legion, though my woman is just in her pants and vest, I have a selection of crap guns and a grand total of 2 Stimpaks so maybe that isn't a good idea right now. :(

Yep maybe get some more equipment together first... and some clothes...

I found my woman a nice dress in the DLC... however it isn't really practical compared to the assassins suit or armoured vault jumpsuit :(

Almost finished the DLC, according to my save files It took ~13 hours... probably put about double that into it in all. Worth it imo, but I love Fallout!

Are we sad for playing the game through as women? :(

I'm about 13 hours in now, ish. I think my Fallout 3 gamesave got to around 60 hours and then I just gave up.

No... we are awesome! I'm always a woman if I have the choice, don't know why just always have :)

My save time for the whole game so far is 53 hours... got quite a way to go as well :D

Fallout 3 (and the 5 DLC's) was one of the few games I've actually wanted to complete fully.

Right... Still a newbie.

I've met the NCR people (Seem nice... I'll stay on their good side). I've been taking out those convicts in the old casino on the other side of their camp.

I'm currently at the NCR Prison. I be friended the convicts for a while.... Now I'm in the middle of a gun battle lol. I want to kill them all..... Not easy!

Finished this today, and have to say it's not a touch on Fallout 3 ;-/

Didn't help that it crashed at least 30 times on my first playthrough. Pleased I got it but tbh I'll be glad when this game engine is ditched as it's horrible..

The intermittent stalling/pausing in some areas of the game is really annoying. I dont recall experiencing this in Fallout 3. At times the game pauses for 5 long seconds.

Hate to admit it but this alone spoils what I would consider to be a pretty good game.

Got the DLC last night, thought I would crack on with that for the time being.

Been lucky so far, only had one crash and got stuck in a rock once, done about 60 hours so far :)

Same, If I have the choice I'd rather be looking at a womans arse for 60+ hours than a blokes, even if they are just polygons. :p

Sounds pretty good, I've just started the game again, I was only about 10 hours in and I was getting sick of having absolutely no Stimpaks, no good weapons, no armour, this time things are going better for me. :)

I'm guessing you're playing this on the PS3, I haven't had any crashes yet, but then I only had the game for Christmas and when I put the game in it downloaded a patch straight away so maybe that has something to do with it. I do get an occasional stutter though which can be a little annoying but it's no big deal for me.

Thats what I mean, stutter.

It hasnt crashed.... Yet....

Other than that its a great game.

Ahh right. It seems a little bit more stable than Fallout 3 which crashed on me loads, hell, the Mothership Zeta expansion was virtually unplayable, I did most of it while playing at single frames per second it was absolutely diabolical and The Pitt wasn't much better either! :o

Started F:NV last night :), only early on in the game doing a hardcore play-through on very easy (may review the difficulty setting but I want to get used to hardcore first), no crashes but a few pauses - nothing on the scale of Fallout 3's (both original & GOTY) buggy-ness though.

edit: ps3 version.

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think all very easy does is makes your enemies have barely any HP and it makes their attacks much weaker, but you will also get hardly any XP for killing them so it sort of evens out.

Does anyone know if you can carry on playing once the main quest is completed? Or do I have to pay for that (again) :p :(

I think very easy is just.. easy and you get the same amount of XP. Might be wrong.

As I mentioned way back when I had completed the first ending, I got two crashes in the beginning and then nothing more. Now after several patches I have troubles completing the other endings as it always crashes with the president or hoover dam and other scripted stuff :(

K1LLSW1TCH, you have to start a new one or reload an old save. If you want to try all the endings the best thing to do is to save after you have gotten to the strip and befriended the boomers. You can do a lot of other side quests too even if they are faction ones but I can't remember as I sit here. I got a save at lvl 20 where all side quests are done and I can still do all endings :)

Gah, that's gay. The alternative endings on Fallout 3 were pretty pants to say the least as the actual ending never changed the narrator just said a couple of different things with the core stuff staying the same, hopefully this will be different. On FO3 at least very easy gave you something like 10XP for killing things like Super Mutant Masters and Giant Radscorpions, maybe on this it's changed but it did give you massively lower amounts of XP in FO3 to reflect on the enemies being absolute pushovers.

Oh, and can you get the Chinese Stealth Armour in New Vegas?

Not sure what the experience is like on the 360 but this game is so unstable on the PS3 :(.

I dont recall encountering any stalling issues in Fallout 3.

Are we likely to expect a patch soon?

Not sure. I'm also playing on the PS3 and Fallout 3 was pretty much the same as this in terms of performance, for me anyway. You can try deleting your game data and then reinstalling it, that sometimes worked on Fallout 3, it's worth a try at least. The stuttering and micro pauses have become more noticeable for me the further I've got into game, maybe it's just a coincidence but the PS3 seems to really struggle with this game.

In other news the Ratslayer is a beast of a weapon. :D

Try finishing 'The Legend of The Star'. The Sunset Sarsparilla Star Bottlecaps each have their own script attached to them to distinguish them from normal 'caps. The more that you have in your inventory, the more the game slows down. I noticed that after finished it the performace increased massively.
