gone from full watercooling to air...need new cooler spec please.

just changed over from my old case to my new 800d and have since decided to not water-cool any more.

i have the stock cpu fan (q6600) installed at the moment and need a new air cooler please.

budget of around £25 to £30 can be 2nd hand as well.

i will be going back to over-clock my q6600 once i get a new cooler.

havent had a air cooler for 2 to 3 years now and have lost touch as to what is good and not so good.

A thermalright TRUE would be a good starting point particularly 2nd hand and with an apache fan will be quiet as well. Allowing £10 for the fan leaves $15 - 20 for the heatsink.

I have this at the mo and idel temps at 30-35'c fully loaded at 60-65'c and thats on a i5 760 @4ghz @ 1.3v

It's on par with Akasa venom cooler mentioned by sgt tackleberry. However You can attach a second viper fan to the akasa venom and it will beat Titan Fenrir Evo to which you can't attach a 2nd fan. The akasa viper fans are known to be excellent aswell..

I recently did a build for one of my best friends same spec as my sig but with a Gelid Tranquillo, it's a good cooler for the price you also get a fan with it, was even a better deal when they was £20 but £25 is still good.

If not then try snap up a second hand TRUE 120.

I don't know how true the manufacturer specs are to the reality but this seems to only give 51-60cfm of aifrlow compared to akasa venom's 83.63cfm.

Yellow is awesome plus the viper fans are designed like jet engine fans if you make a comparison.

Yeah go with MX-4.

2nd's for the MX-4 its non conductive where as the AS5 isn't.

look up the review of the CM Hyper 212 (NOT the plus'+' one), and see how well that does when two fan's are attached. Shockingly good for the price!

Is there any fan that is as good as the Viper but isn't yellow?

I don't think it'd suit my black/red case lol

colour/led/black etc... all is fine, just as long as it performs on par with the Viper
