Steam christmas sale 2010... *twitch*

Just started playing Portal that I bought at the start of the sale.. WOW awesome game!

I also bought portal in the sale, and having previously thought it was a boring game from watching others play/videos, having played myself I'm now eagerly anticipating portal 2 :p

I want to get all the GTA games on Steam, so i'm not sure whether to buy the Rockstar Collection, or buy GTAIV now then hope the classics collection will be on offer.

Max Payne still worth a few quid in todays money? if so that could make the collection worthwhile.

getting so poor from this steam sale, current list is ;-

Avp
Darksiders
Deadrising 2
Mass Effect
Mass Effect 2
Mirrors Edge
Transformers
Shatter
Need For Speed : Hot Persuit

and now i can't wait for tomorrows deals :D never going to have time to play all these.

I absolutely love max payne, just for a bit of fun. I really quite enjoy its gameplay! :P Also I know your entitled to your opinion Seraph and Co. but like doing this whole 'omg everyone apart from me just a mindless consumer driven clone who will buy recycled garbage, only I can see the light' bull**** is a bit stupid. NFS HP is a decent game, with good driving mechanics..and if you have friends to play it with its great due to the logging.

I've only purchased Lego Batman and that was on the first day of the sale. Since then either I've owned the games on sale or I'm not interested, not really got much of a feeling about this but my Bank account is quite happy.

Funny, seem to just have gone off games, going to try a session of Mass Effect or some GTA IV this weekend.

FM & WoW are all I'm playing at the moment.

Shatter is well worth picking up, it's been one of my favorite indie games of the year. 84% on Metacritic and a £1.75 price tag can't be bad.

Been looking at the Epic Pack for £8, all the Unreal Games, never played Unreal is it worth a play as a fan of FPS?

I'd say so. I've yet to actually complete it, quite a long game. But what I have played so far was pretty good. But I'd wait until the last day of the sale before buying in case it comes up cheaper on a daily deal. That's what I've been doing.

Hi mate, didnt do anything actually, set to default opengl , set res to 1600x1200 (i have a desktop 1920x1200 res), fullscreen, 8 bit textures, max texture quality - basically set everything on maximum

And it works! it does seem to 'hang' at times saying 'loading' but i just press escape and it takes me to the menu.

I installed and ran quake 3 before if that makes any difference (which i doubt!).

hope that helps.

anybody else got quake 2 running?

Yeah running no problem here, Win 7 64, GTX 460, same settings as you. Now away to find out if it can be run widescreen and if there are any hi-res texture packs for it.

Anyone having problems could try one of the sourceports like KMQuake 2 or EGL. Should run the game far better on modern hardware and OS's. Of if you want to play vanilla Quake 2, there is an unofficial 3.23 patch that should fix crashing available here; http://kmq2.quakedev.com/

Also there is a load of information here on getting the various ID games working on steam with improved graphics, music support (inc quake 2) etc; http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/wiki/index.php/Id_Super_Pack

So far I've picked up Darksiders, the King Arthur Collection, The Misadventures of PB Winterbottom and Puzzle Bots. Today I've nabbed Europa Universalis III and Singularity.

I have no idea where I am going to find the time to play either Europa Universalis III or King Arthur.
