So, i'm going to be at Trafalgar Sq tonight and i need to get back to the hotel.

It's 2 miles away and i don't want to be ripped off by taxis and the underground is going to be MEGA busy, so...

How long does it take to walk 2 miles (Google maps says an 1hr?!) and is it safe?

Thanks.

Hotel is located at Lancaster Gate.

You should be ok. Walk down to Regent Street, then at Oxford Circus turn left onto Oxford Street keep walking until you get to Lancaster Gate. Cross over to the right hand side of Oxford street to avoid messing around crossing the roads at Marble Arch. Oxford Street turns into Bayswater road at Marble Arch and that stretch will be a bit quiet because you have Hyde Park on the other side of the road.

Personally I would catch a bus (night bus) or the Central Line from Oxford Circus.

Traf Sq. to Lancaster Gate is easy. There'll be lots of people around so it'll be safe as houses. Well, houses that you have to keep a bit of an eye on, anyway.

If i've managed to get back to Hampstead for the past 3 months of drunken skullduggery without so much as losing my Oyster card, I am sure you'll be fine on the busiest night of the year.

About an hour sounds right.

There will be lots of revellers around so I wouldn't worry about anything.

You can always take the tube, it's not that unpleasant until the drunkards start using it.

Taxis are metered - just get in a taxi - there is an extra charge of £4 but that's it.

Just walk for 5 mins away from crowds and then flag one down.

15 mins to walk the first mile, 1 hr extricating yourself from a maze of back-alleys, 1 min to get mugged and several hours in hospital/police station. Expect to get back sometime in the next couple of days :D

Seriously though, have a great night and have a drink for me.

Tube is free is it not? Just get on the carriage with the least drunks, or enjoy the relative change that is a non-silent tube!

Is it?

I have no idea!

Will check their webiste.

I'll catch the Tube then, it's only a couple of stops anyway - worse case scenario is i fall onto the rails in my drunken state :D

You will be fine on the tubes...they will be busy but i wouldnt expect them to be anymore busy than at rush hour.

Im taking the missus into london via tube and i dont think it will be that bad tbqh.
