Vertex LE 100GB, benchmarks seem right?

Hi all,

I've benchmarked my SSD using ATTO 2.46 and this is what I got after secure erase using OCZ Toolbox and installation of Windows 7:

Does this seem OK?

Yes, my read/write is a little higher by maybe 10mb or so but nothing wrong there imo.

Awesome, I'd been a bit of an idiot and installed it in my laptop when I was using it as my main machine, and fully formatted it. Now it's in this pc, my install procedure was:

(AHCI was already enabled in BIOS to take advantage of NCQ for HDD)
install RST 9.1, Matrix Storage and download OCZ toolbox
attach SSD as secondary drive
update firmware and secure erase
shut down, disconnect HDDs
Install Windows

I have two more questions: even though I have AHCI enabled, when I go into drive information in BIOS it displays my Seagate Hard Drive as "HDD" while both my Spinpoint F3 and SSD as "IDE". I'm afraid I don't know much about SSDs, is this right?
The second question is to do with the formatting and partitioning I did, will secure erase have fixed all of that or is there anything else I need to do?

Could you open up the AS SSD benchmark, but don't actually run a bench and take a screenshot, that will show us if it's properly running in AHCI and also that it's aligned properly.

If I understand correctly the mv91xx is supposed to say msahci isn't it? How can I fix it?

You've got the drive plugged into the marvel controller on your motherboard, you want it on the Intel controller, ports 0-6. I wouldn't run any more AS SSD benchmarks on your drive, it can degrade write performance.

Ok I've now plugged it into the Intel controlled SATA port but AS SSD now says its running "iaStor", should I do anything about it? There seem to be a few people using the iaStor drivers although that's mostly with Intel SSD's

Nah it just means you're on the intel controllers now, nothing to do with the brand of SSD.

With your SSD the Intel should perform better.

Run your ATTO again and you should see an increase in performance.

It seems to be in most cases, but I've noticed that the results are lower in some cases and for 4k, 8k, 16k and 32k it actually writes faster than it reads :confused:
