no way a draw maynard should have won that

Round 1: 10-7 Maynard
Round 2 : 10-9 Edgar
Round 3: 10-9 Maynard
Round 4: 10-9 Edgar
Round 5: 10-10 Draw

how anyone could give more then a 10-7 for the first is beyond me
 
I had it a draw, I don't think I have every seen anything lower than a 10-8 in MMA so 1st was a 10-8, Frankie got the 2nd, Maynard the 3rd Frankie the 4th and 5th.

I wasn't really an Edgar fan before this, but man fair play to the dude he came back from oblivion to get that draw.

It's a shame he hasn't got KO power, it's what is holding him back. He certainly lands the big punches, just hasn't got the force to go with them :(
 
Ok fights in thr end.
Impressed by edgar how on earth he recovered from the first i dont know. A draw is about right. Dont think maynard won another round. He looked tired after that edgar seemed to push the pace more bit more aggressive more takedowns stopped a lot of grays etc...

Veras nose was horrific could see it was bad when he had his head down against thr cage. Reminded me of that tuf fight in last seasons trials.
 
Yeah to come back the way he did was amazing, took some heavy shots and pulled through.

Then dominated the 2nd, really impressed me :)

Maynard vs Edgar III is confirmed, Pettis has to wait.

I got that news through while I was working earlier but didn't get to chase it up properly, is Pettis getting a fight in the meantime ?

Definitely a wise move to make the rematch straight away anyway.

Have to admit I watched this in the end. Main event alone was worth watching.

Frankie Edgar is a bloody machine.

I've not heard of him getting a matchup, I imagine they will give him someone though maybe Penn should come back to 155, former champ and a good test for anybody at 155.

I know it's not quite as simple as lose to BJ you would lose to Edgar, but it's a decent enough yard stick.
 
I had it 47-47. Gray just sneaking the 3rd round and Frankie winning the 5th stuffing the takedowns and edging the stand up.

Great fight, especially after everyone saying what a borefest it would be, good night of fights and so much respect for Frankie for surviving that first round, incredible!

-Superb display from Thiago - back to his vicious best!! (p.s nice broken nose for vera!!:eek::eek:)
-Excellent display of striking by Stann to beat a "journeyman" Leben.
-Good win for Clay against an opponent who didn't have a clue how to deal with Clay's ducking and diving and dancing!
-Baroni looked like an old man when getting dismantled by Tavares
- Oh dear - some one please tell Marcus Davis his time is up - for his own health!:(
-Nice win for Roberts over Soto
-Kim v Diaz was a bit of a boring fight but correct decision despite what Diaz says
- Main fight - Maynard v Edgar - probably the correct result - first round 10-8 all the way, never going to see a 10-7 but could have been if they wanted to score it that way. Tough call on both fighters to give a decision but a draw was probably the correct results - cracking fight all round mind you.

Not really, some of those fights were easily forgettable. Vera's nose was the only good thing about his fight, shocking break that lol
 
Was a good card... prior to it I was all that fussed about the Main event, after the first 5 mins I was hooked :-) I thought Edgar was ****** after that, but that is one tough dude
 
yup awesome ufc event... great way to kick start 2011 !

Feel sorry for pettis for not getting the shot that was promised to him, but after that fight it needs a resoloution... either way you could tell they were pitching and planning on giving ben henderson the title shot but the surprise win from pettis sorta catched everyone off guard and all of a sudden he became the no1 contender.

I think its right move though we need to go per fights...

Anyhow roll of Fedor vs bigfoot for Feb, if Fedor is really any good he has to proove it by knocking our bigfoot and thats not easily done.... and Anderson Silva da spiders back too, I think we got a ufc fight night due in 2-3 weeks also...

Yep, glad to see Big Foot/Fedor finally confirmed.

Latest fight night is Jan 22, then there's a Strikeforce card on the 29th and then UFC 126 the week after !
