I like them both tbh. They both have strong stories, and i think the first series did some parts more justice than the second series.

The animation is good all round for both tbh. I thought the second series started off very comical tbh, but it balanced out as it went along, with enough content along more serious themes.

When i say more cartoony i mean these bits. Which i dont really like as it loses its serious factor which i liked in FMA the original tho i think original had some it wasnt as bad iirc.

where'd you get your nendoroids from? Trying to find a place other than play-asia that has a good range etc

For recent figures I've tended to go with benippon.com unless something has struck my fancy, and been in stock, on another site. Found them to be pretty good (even for second hand figures ... my Tomoyo figure was second hand from them and it was basically perfect other than missing a box, something that they checked I was ok with in advance as normally they would expect even second hand figures to be boxed).

Amiami are supposed to be ok as well but I haven't used them yet myself.

I don't tend to use UP for figures unless they are in stock, (and only sometimes if pre-ordering), as they can take ages to get figures (if they can at all).

I like Nendoroids and Figmas ... there are quite a few I would get now if finances/space allowed ... (I already have many figmas which are not on display). If you are looking a nendoroids online then make sure the listing is for a nendoroid, not a nendoroid petit, unless that is what you actually want.

Meh you guys are making me think about getting some figures. I presume they are the pvc ones yeah?

Lookin for ecchi ikkitousen ones i found these id love to have but you seen the prices

http://hirvine.com/blog/1646/ikkitousen-vinyl-figure-ryomou-standing/

Yep, for this type of figures it's usually best to go with the pre-made PVC ones instead of the make-it-yourself resin ones unless (a) you know what you are doing and (b) you have some artistic talent (i have neither). Watch out for places like popular auction sites as they can have a lot of fakes.

Ecchi models and models which are OOP/sold out can get very expensive very quickly if you aren't very lucky. I know my Ayu (Kanon) figure was selling for a lot when I got it (although I was lucky and only paid retail for it). My Tomoyo figure was second hand when I got it, as it was sold out, and I see that that is now going for over 100euros second hand for a simple non-ecchi figure.

The silly thing is that if you go to the right places in Japan then you can pick things up dirt cheap but online they can command very high prices, take Strife's Nanoha figure at the top of his picture ... I have seen that figure (or ones very like it), in second hand listings online at almost 200euros ... I saw the same figure second hand, but boxed and in A+ condition, in Mandrake Grand Chaos (Osaka) for <£30! (to big a box to bring back though otherwise I would have got it :()

See that looks nice and well displayed. I'd have something like that if i had the room.

Also, you seem to be a bit of a Haruhi fanatic :p

Whats the large one on the top shelf of the far right cabinet?

Thanks, yeah, I am just a bit :P

That's a 1/4 scale KOS-MOS from Xenosaga.

where'd you get your nendoroids from?

All of them are from Mandarake, I love Mandarake, they stock things that are long sold out elsewhere. I actually got a big box of Nendoroids from them since that pic was taken :p Bought a box of 7 full sized Nendos for about 100 quid or something, including some rarer ones.

How did you find their ordering process and delivery/packaging? I've never tried ordering from them online but their stores .... well they are just amazing really. Their Nakano store(s) are great and you can loose so much time in them and their Osaka Grand Chaos store is good too (although quite hard to find things in). Never managed to make the Akihabara store though as I kept on ending up in Animate ;)

Well, its been a bit quiet for me the last day or two so I sat down and watched through (mistake?) Yosuga no Sora; I went in not knowing much about the series beyond it was some sort of adult drama/romance series, but I tend to like the group that released it and I've seen and enjoyed a few romance/drama series recently, so figured it might be worth a watch... and I got a little more than I expected!

Ermm, what can I say the last arc wasn't to my tastes, so a lot of that was jumped through/avoided.

Being critical on the parts I did see however, the series kinda felt like Higurashi meets Toradora! meets ....a director who's just realised 'boobs' is one of the most searched for terms on google, and had some sort of niggling freudian complex. Very strange (and not as good as either of the two previously mentioned series unfortunately).

The art wasn't bad at all, and some of the scenery was very nicely done, it was certainly quite a pretty series in that sense. I also quite liked the branching plot system; it gave a bit more depth to the arcs than just spending a few shows on each girl then dropping them completely, and it was nice, in a way, to see elements of arcs affecting the others.
That said, this was also its downfall, in that you never really spent enough time focused on each one, I'd probably have been happier had the last arc not been there and we'd had more time to get to know the others properly, as I never really cared about any of them to any extent. Some of the 'adult' material felt really tacked on for the pure sake of it as well, I'm gathering this was probably based on a game as thats certainly what it felt like.

What can I say, not an awful series by any means, but that last arc and the more adult material means I'd certainly say its not a series for everyone by any means; and I kinda find it hard to recommend in that light, in that its not the best series of its kind (rom/romcom), I'm sure there's better adult material out there; and that last arc will probably put a percentage of western viewers right off (I'd guess eastern viewers too, but then this did get made!)

I've been waiting a few months for Amigami SS as that looked interesting, hopefully that'll provide less unexpected surprises :D

PS. Slightly odd request, but I noticed a few of you regularly seem to use some of these japanese export sites; if you ever happen to notice any of the spice and wolf mug/yunomi's could you let me know?
It's one of the few bits of merchandise I'd actually quite like to get (I'd certainly use it), but I haven't seen any on ebay or the sites I've taken a quick look for at least six months, and the one or two 'proxy' sites I looked at were a little confusing!
I know they're still out there as another dude I know mentioned he'd seen some on Yahoo JP recently.

All I can say to that opinion is that I agree.. When I saw the pre-advertising for the series I thought it could be interesting in a Myself Yourself sort of way (which is a favourite of mine) but what we were given in the end was a unfocused mess with boobies. I found the rapid jumping between the different arcs confusing at times and some of the content was just dubious ...

I've seen all but the last episode of this and i can say that I found it really enjoyable. Unlike the above series you get nice clearly defined arcs and all the major character for each one tends to crop up as minor characters in the others. Nowhere near as explicit as the above series either. It's not without it's flaws but it's a nice series.

Not seen Myself:Yourself, will keep an eye out for it. Don't get me wrong, I'm a guy - I'm not against 'adult' material, but either go the whole hog and make something adult, or put it in appropriately rather than tacked on for the sake of it, which is more like what it felt like in this.

And yes that last arc is definately 'dubious' which is why it wasn't to my personal taste. I mean I didn't mind KissXSis, but that was across the line of not-so-dubious as it made quite sure to point at they're actually just step-family! As I understand cousins are legal in Japan, so I guess...perhaps...they're a bit more broad-minded in this sense than the western market, but either way its stilll a pretty taboo subject matter. I guess in a way, this freedom is one of the reasons anime can be so different (neither this or some of the material in Elfen Lied as an example would likely have ever made it into a western show), but then it definately becomes a matter of taste.

As I say, I also didnt mind the branched layout, it reminded me of Endless Eight and Higurashi, but it benefited the later characters much more than earlier ones who basically got short changed, and left them with exceedingly short, depth lacking arcs, which they didn't compensate for by giving them more episodes etc.

Watched Ichiban Ushiro No Daimaou over the last two days.

What can I say, it wasn't big, it wasn't particularly clever, but it was a lot of fun, and made a definate nice change of pace after Yosuga no Sora.
I quite like fantasy/magic (actually in some ways the series reminds me of the world I conceptualised for a possible project in the future), and the initial premise is somewhat similar to what I know of the Index/Railgun series which Im looking forward to watching.
The series seemed to throw together almost every trope and plot device (dragons, sword in stones, armor suits, artifacts, ninja...the list goes on) I could think of for this sort of series, but in an enjoyable way, surprisingly enjoyable considering how absolutely awful the series could have been; it was quite a pleasant surprise in that sense.

Not to mention, one of the female protagonists is voiced by the same Seiyuu as Mio/Shino, dunno why but I always end up liking her characters, I doubt its the voice, just something that happens!

Edit:
Just looked through your links Neil, have to say I agreed with the first one quite a lot, and its kinda nice to see 'No, Thank You!' repeatedly coming up as recieving criticism from other parties as being probably the best song of the second K-On, proving it's not just me haha.
Also distinctly unsurprised to see Angel Beats getting such mixed reviews, as they mirror what I've seen from viewers.

They also pointed out I'd completely let Shiki pass me by...a vampire series where they're NOT all Twilight-esque? How did I miss this?
Still I suppose thats why I will read these things, due to my 'watching last season shows all at once', I'm more susceptible to missing good shows and not even realising.
