Can you check what it reads under 'physical memory' on the performance tab of task manager?
Does your MB have a memory remap setting in the bios?
I have narrowed it down to slot 1 , which ever stick i put there it wont read it as usable , i removed the cpu and the socket looks ok , so i guess its either my motherboard or cpu but which one i dont know
any idea what the warranty period is on Gigabyte Motherboards, i hope its at least 2 years
If cpuZ picks up all the memory then its a OS REMAPPING ISSUE.
try this method.
START/RUN/ type msconfig then press enter.
Boot tab / Advanced Options
Untick the Maximum Memory box and apply changes and reboot and all your memory will be remapped![]()
It's a known issue with Gigabyte X58 boards, only way I've been able to get round it is to reset my BIOS to the defaults and then reloading my overclocked settings from the backup.
What speed are you trying to run the memory at? I notice you have 1866mhz memory but the i7 950 only officially supports 1066mhz, 1600mhz should be doable but at anything approaching 1866mhz your CPU's memory controller will probably keel over.
