I just got home today with my new msi card from the deal and began installing it.

I've reseated the card a few times , swapped power connectors etc. Yet still I'm getting one longer then 3 shorter beeps.

Gfx card fans spin up but no display.

I have the BIOS at stock. And only a hard drive and cd on SATA.

Psu is tagan 480w which has been fine til now. Any ideas ?

I don't think I've ever updated mobo BIOS. Does that matter?

Any ideas massively appreciated.

Don't quote me one this but i believe 3 short beeps is a memory issue (Can someone confirm this) If it is try removing each memory module and powering on with just one in.

Hope ive helped

My pc was fine an hour ago with gts in. I've not touched memory. I'll try though

Well I'm planning on sandy this month too so I guess ill have to invest. Adds up :(

. Yet still I'm getting one longer then 3 shorter beeps.

.

One long and 3 short is no VGA detected. And a 480W Tagan should at least boot the card into 2D. Don't waste time on a psu, i've started a 5870 and installed Windows with a hdd, Q9650 and DVD-RW on a crappy temporary FSP 300W psu built for HTPCs ffs. 500W recommended dosen't mean a 480w would not work, its the amps delivered on the right rail that matters, you could probably get by on a decent 350w with a good 12v rail witn minimal components for example. Plus i hardly believe a graphics card will pull its full load on bootup.

I think you have a DOA.

im with Justintime on this one. Try possible re-seating the GPU and put your old card back in, yes BIOS updates do matter for graphic cards working. My old P5N-E SLI struggles to work with 5XXX series cards and 6XXX so i stayed well away from them. Still on a 4870 here!

Bios 1406 for my board patches issues but is no complete fix. So have a little read up on whether your board is fully compliant.

All the best mate.

I'm using phone to browse so I'm struggling to find out.

Id appreciate if someone can help me find a fix while I try to install this thing.

I think that link I gave implies asus have no fix :(

Jesus, looks like you have the same board as me aha! I can guide you through a BIOS update on that board if you like mate, ive done it loads.

Right managed to get into windows and run drivers. It restarted . Pc is booting to windows but it hangs for like 30 secs before BIOS beeps in.

Card now won't recognize monitor max resolution. Guessing that's just software though.

Hopefully a new mobo this month will stop this. Shame I can't enjoy upgrade now. I'm stressed lol

Right mate, may be a hassle but from what i can see it can work. Basically update to 1406, use EZ FLASH utility in BIOS, if you need a hand just ask away. Once updated, put back the new card, when the machine fully powers on at post (100% fan speed) supposidly hit the reset button, this will then push you into your Operating System.

Bunyan thanks for being so helpful, well basically thats what I did, the fan was running full 100%, then I whacked reset and now after much waiting Im in windows.

Ive installed drivers and reset (which actually made it through itself, Albeit after pausing for 30 secs before bios screen)..

Now Im on desktop and the catalyst driver system wont recognise my monitor max res. its at very low res. any idea why?
