Spec me a dog

Staffy, aslong as it's a pup and you raise it correctly it will get alongwith a cat fine and be soft as ****. They can be moulded to just what you want from a dog. I have two and they are perfect family pets.

German short haired pointer, medium sized and excellent temperament, used to have two of them and they were great with kids and other animals.

It's a bit unusual but a whippet will remain fairly small, they're actually surprisingly restful pets as when not running around outside are pretty lazy, they can co-exist with cats or other pets provided you introduce them properly although being sighthounds may chase cats (or anything relatively small) outside. Cute is a matter of opinion.

However, like doofer, I'd hope you're going to put a bit more thought into it than what is in your original post. A dog is a pretty serious responsibility and needs a lot of time and attention given to it if you don't want it to be a problem.

Border terrier or miniature schnauzer - they are pets my family have had and have been lovely :)

Also, don't overlook mongrel puppies from rescue centres!

Agree with the Semi-pro. Whippet is very nice dog and if you're lucky like me it will be crossed with a collie :D dogs got a noodle!

Can't agree more, greatest dogs ever.

Don't let the ***** idiots who give them a bad name put you off.

The thing with Staffs is that it's easy to go on their reputation but once you've had one or been around one for a long period of time you can truly appreciate what lovely dogs they are.

This. I had a Staff. He was big softie who was scared of the ceiling fan and always hid behind someone if it was turned on. He was a playful dog but very inquisitive. If raised properly, they're great dogs.

Rotty. Not that big and have a lovely temperament if brought up properly.

Mastiff's are the softest dogs ever. Pitbulls and Staffies are the ones I try to avoid. Rotwielers are fantastic guard dogs and great around kids and things, as long as you bring them up correctly.

On a side note I really wish they introduced dog licenses where only fit and proper owners were allowed to own them.

How on earth is he going to know how to raise a potentially dangerous dog correctly when he's asking for help about how to pick one on a computer forum?

And "as long as it's brought up correctly" is a ridiculous phrase for 90% of the dog owning population, which to be brutally frank, aren't capable of raising a spider plant correctly. Another vote for licenses here.

I just want them banned. I don't give a toss that shotguns are perfectly safe if handled correctly, I don't want people having them. I don't want family pets taken away, I just don't want any new ones arriving.
