60gb should be more than enough for an os/apps drive. Even with Office 10, Photoshop etc installed I've got about 20gb free on mine.

The big drawback with the Crucial drive is the write speed (70MB/s is pretty dire for an SSD). The random read speeds are more or less identical - sequential reads are better on the Crucial but that won't make much difference for an OS drive...
 
I bought the OCZ Vertex 2E 60GB a month or so ago from OcUK when it was on special offer. Saved a few quid on it at the time. Excellent drive, I have a further two SATA drives in my system so I install everything on one of those and leave the Vertex just for the OS and a few key programs and apps. So far I've found 60Gb to be more than adequate.
 
Possibly, but don't hold your breath for substantial price reductions. Demand is still high for SSD's of any generation.
