New SSD please

Hello everyone, i have been looking at getting a SSD for a while now and i have decided to get one, problem is which one, i have had a look around and the OCZ Vertex 2E 60GB looks about the best one. I have also found this one,

I am unsure which one is best, the Crucial has SATA III connection but it has lower write speeds.

Any ideas?

I'm interested in getting a 60gb SSD as a boot drive, so any recommendations would be great, thanks.

Is 60gb enough space? I'm thinking of getting the Vertex 2 as it seems to have constant speeds of 250mb/s, which seems plentiful.

60gb should be more than enough for an os/apps drive. Even with Office 10, Photoshop etc installed I've got about 20gb free on mine.

The big drawback with the Crucial drive is the write speed (70MB/s is pretty dire for an SSD). The random read speeds are more or less identical - sequential reads are better on the Crucial but that won't make much difference for an OS drive...

Also the crucial's read speeds arent better than the vertex 2ee when its on sata II and not sata III

I bought the OCZ Vertex 2E 60GB a month or so ago from OcUK when it was on special offer. Saved a few quid on it at the time. Excellent drive, I have a further two SATA drives in my system so I install everything on one of those and leave the Vertex just for the OS and a few key programs and apps. So far I've found 60Gb to be more than adequate.

Oooo, price drop on the current generation of drives then??

Possibly, but don't hold your breath for substantial price reductions. Demand is still high for SSD's of any generation.
