Wii - GoldenEye

I dunno, I think the fact the controller has CoD-style auto-aim kind of cancels out any advantage the wiimote gives you, bar sniping. I think I prefer feeling less spazzy when I try to turn and move.

I couldn't get into this. As a CoD clone on the Wii it does a pretty good job, but it doesn't have the quality or gameplay of the original (other than a few cosmetic touches there is absolutely nothing 'Golden Eye' about this). This isn't just nostalgia speaking btw - after a few hours local multiplayer me and a few mates stuck on the 360 Perfect Dark remake - closest thing we had to the original GE - and it was leagues ahead.

But yeah, for a game that only exists to shamelessly cash in on a great name, it does a pretty good job ;)

couldnt get the hang of the wii mote controls. There's novels been wrote about this in various online forums. The wii mote is awesome for aiming, but as soon as you turn it just doesn;t work, you move the pointer to the edge of the screen to aim at a baddie and then your screen starts turning so you have to correct your aim..

It's a weird kind of disconnect between aiming and turning.

Classic controller worked a little better, more consistantly, but tbh, playing fps on a controller sucks. Could have been a great game, but marred by really bad controls imo.

The other thing is when you zoom in and then come back your screen jumps all over the place as it 're-aims' based on the current position and not the position you were in before.

If it was possible to use a mouse + wiimote or usb keyboard this would be great.

Wii COD suffered the same terrible control input as well I played that for about a level or 2 and gave up.

It's a pretty good game in its own right, but it is not an original N64 beater.

My main issue is the controls, as already mentioned. You can't look directly up or down, which is very annoying. I was hoping leaning round corners would be implemented, but isn't, or at least not that I have been able to sort out.

But I spend the entire time going "but it's not the original" :(

Oh yeah, and its got the wrong bond in it, in fact, I think DC is a terrible bond.

I thought that Metroid Prime Trilogy had amazing controls.

Agreed - MP worked great because of the lock on and because you rarely had to track a moving target. However, Golden Eye Wii suffers from the same problems as Red Steel 2 - great when you're aiming at something in the center 'aiming square', but sucks when you have to start following a target horizontally as you have to shunt the screen to get the target in the square and then aim. It's clunky and just doesn't work.

you press Z to iron scope and tilt with the nun chuck.

There is something very odd about the vertical controls in this game, they just don’t work as well as other shooters on the wii.

I tried this with my kids the other night , very frustrating with the wii motes,i completely lost interest within minutes of playing due to the movement system

might give it a try on my own

Cool, I'll give it a try later :) Only issue with buying 2nd hand games or borrowing them, I never get the manuals :(

You do get used to them, although the lock on can be a pain when you want to aim at someone and it locks on to a barrel, ceiling fan or something else you don't want.

Leaning works with wii mote only, you hold Z and twist nunchuck

you should mess about with the wiimote settings you can customise the ass out of it.
