Mk1 toyota Yaris'...thoughts and opinions?

Overated cars IMO. It's just a super mini at the end of the day. Tiny inside, the doors clang and are thinner than tracing paper.

The Micra 04 on is better buy, or the Yaris 2.

Id take a mk1 Yaris over a Micra any day tbh. For a start it is a MUCH better looking car.

What point is there to miss? You tell us the newer, but more importantly more expensive model of the car in question is better.

FWIW, My other half loved her Yaris. As much as a bad car it was, women generally don't care about crappy plastics, road noise or slightly awkward seats. What is important is something that just works.

Dont kid yourself, they all look like plastic crap. It's about which is the most reliable at this end of the market for a woman, surely?

The basic models do. The SR/T-Sports don't look half bad. For a city car and getting you to A to B they are a good car. Motorway wise, they could have put a 6th gear on the T-Sport, it would have been much nicer. Road noise is a problem as well at high speed. But if there isn't much motorway driving involved then imo it is a good car.

Micra looks cack for me.

Do you know any women?

It's all about looks! Simple.

Is this silly Yaris going to become the best thing since sliced bread now you've basically spent what, £7000 getting on the road in an old Yaris?

I think the point was that if you're buying a car for a girl, you ought to direct them to stuff that they won't be able to break, not that women get moist for reliability :p

Sorry, but it looks like a girls shopping trolley.

Can't argue with that, albeit a not bad looking shopping trolley :)

When we went to look at ours I was already prepared to hate the 5 door, but it actually looked alright.

But they are good cars?

As city runabouts intended to get people who have little interest in cars from A - B then perhaps they can be described as "Good cars", if not a little dull/uninteresting. For practically everyone else on this planet you can do better, particularly if you have neigh on £3,500 to spend and seemingly don't give a stuff about what you pay for insurance.

For Vita it doesn't remotely seem to be a "Good car", and that's before we get into the whole "7k to get on the road in an old Yaris" angle.

Why are you so Anal?

No it's not. Why do you always have to bring something I do in to it? How has it got anything to do with this thread?

I'm talking about the car. It's not a bad first car, is that difficult to understand?

Is that really the correct use of that term? I don't think I was being 'anal' in this particular thread. Others, sure, but not this one.

Although I guess this particular post I'm making right now, however, could be classified as 'anal'.

Your car is an apalling first car - any car that generates a £3600 insurance bill has fundamentally failed at the first and most importnat hurdle of first car greatness - reasonable insurance.

It does ultimately depend on what you want from a car but considering the job it set out to do, I don't think you can really knock it, it is good at what it does.

It's just what it does, isn't want you want from a car, that doesn't make it a bad car though, it makes it a bad choice for you.

In the circumstances, i'd suggest the same probably applies to Vita though, as he seems to view it as something a bit above its actual station :p

And BMW 5 series look like a car for a **** of business man, its no wonder you bought one. :D

Its a car, I dont car what BHP it has, or what grade of plastic the dash is or if its the car to be seen in, I have probably spent less on my cars running costs in 4 years than you have on your BMW in 1 year, u jelly?
