How to move 200kg from portsmouth to Brighton?

Gf used shiply to get a piano moved for about 30 quid. Great website. You post the required job, and couriers will bid against each other for your custom.

a bench will never ever fit in a car, unless its a 4x4 or an mpv with the seats taken out or the bench has been taken completely apart (which usually never happens, due to throwing away instructions after building it).

also, if it is 200kg, of weights plus a bench thats about 2/3 people. so if you are taking it in a extremely big car, space the weight out a little, all in the boot wouldn't be a good idea.

the best option would be to borrow a van, someone you know must have access to or own a van.

Erm don't be ridiculous. A bench will easily fit in a normal car - sure you have to put the seats down, but that's purely owing to the length of it. And 200kg in a car is absolutely fine - cars can cope with a lot bigger load than 200kg (I'd be screwed otherwise every time I took 1 passenger ;)). I've moved more than that in 306.

Yeah, 200kg isn't a killer, though agree that you might wanna put a plate in each rear footwell just to even the load a little.

Do none of your parents / relatives have a car, or know anyone that does that would be willing to go for a (smaller than delivery firms) fee? I'd be amazed if you knew NOBODY with a car...

It's a hefty drive tbh, petrol wouldn't be cheap and it wouldn't be quick.
I bet courier will be cheaper and easier.

Edit: ignore that, i was thinking Plymouth rather than Portsmouth!

It's no problem providing the guy can put in on a pallet and secure it with a strap? You'd be looking at a price of around £70 for item to be delivered within 4days max.

Also the bench should weigh more then 10kg if its good quality. My powertec one is 30kg and came in 2 parts.

Maybe construct a makeshift car using the plates as wheels and then Flintstone your way back to Brighton?

I had a trials bike sent from isle of wight to west yorkshire for £50, ill dig around for the name and details, it was a pallet delivery service, reasonable prices.

When I saw Freefaller posting in this thread I thought he was going to offer to carry it for you.

I live in portsmouth and will deliver it to you for money :) I dont have uni till next week just a lot of work i like to put off.

Same day courier company is the way forward. Basicly hiring a man with a van but corporate style.

They normaly charge by the mile and not weight as your hiring the hole van.
