Hi chaps, I have a Desire on Orange which I updated to a non-Orange, default image a while back. Now I want to do the same for Froyo. Can someone link me or let me know the name of a rom that is either untouched and standard or simply rooted without anything on top that I can apply? It has to work with the Orange radio, naturally.
 
Does anyone know how to stop Facebook contacts appearing in the "To" field when typing an sms? I only send texts to people in my phonebook, not to the hundreds of people on Facebook :p

i had this trouble, i turned the sync off as when you search to for contacts on email or sms they will show. not a lot u can do, unless things have changed in the last 6 months
 
Damn, I guess it's more down to the sms app? I can remember seeing an option in handcent that let you choose whether to show social contacts.. I don't really want to use handcent though.

its the same problem with gmail contacts, its an android thing.

if you sync over all your gmail contacts it will also show other email address that you have sent to when browsing for contacts for sms and email, but not show them in 'contacts' as they don't have a telephone number linked to them
 
That's why Handcent is great only shows contacts you choose with mobiles.

I think I am getting a new phone in March so my Desire will be up for grabs then :D

What to look forward to though hmmmmm.....LG Star maybe. they're pushing home connect with wifi connectivity and control for LG devices in the home, announcement at CES so this appeals a bit to me for future appliance management!

New phone must e dual core, hae a 4"+ AMOLED screen :D
 
Dual core is a must. Its the next gen. And the latest greatest devices usually get the most attention from developers and hackers. This is the year for Android gaming I think and you will need a mega device for the 3D stuff.
 
Just a thought about all these battery life quereies. It's pretty much moot to be in the quest for battery life unless you have a new Desire.

Mine is not far off a year old now. Am I to actually believe the battery is in top condition? No. What I need to do is buy a new OEM HTC battery and see then how it fares
 
Encountered my first problem on oxygen - the screen was blank. It wouldnt wake up. I tried ringing my phone but was still blank but it rang. Took the battery out and it came on but it froze at the oxygen screen. Took the battery out again and after that it decided to work :S


Might try out a sense based rom. Any recommendations?
 
You could try a different kernel perhaps?

I can upload DeFrost's BFS HAVS kernel if you like..
