What's the most scared you've ever been?

When rock climbing I was about 50-60ft up just coming off of a over hang, My cousin was belaying me. I missed a hold and fell he didn't react anywhere near quick enough. I had time to look down and scream (yes it was a scream I think) at him. He reacted and I must have only fell like 20ft or so, He burnt his hand on the rope in the process, I've never let him belay me again since. At the time I properly thought I was going to hit the deck.

A while back when I awoke with extreme blood pressure, extremely fast pulse (~140bpm IIRC) and heart arrhythmia one morning after a stressfull day and a weird nightmare. I was in hospital overnight which sucked. I was pretty sure I'd be okay though.

I was more scared when I had to do a best man speech at my my mates wedding. I drank so much wine before standing up the front, but it made no difference to the way I felt. Apparently I did a good job though.

The Black Hole at Alton Towers broke down when I was a kid. The ride jammed at the bottom, the emergency lights came on so we could see all the roughly sawn bits of wood & cables you wouldn't have normally seen. The next lot of cars began to come down behind us & I could hear them getting louder & louder as they approached. We were all screaming "STOP THE RIDE!!" & trying to get out but the safety barrier things were keeping in the cars. I was absolutely crapping it, I was at the back!

Seeing my Dad pass out just after breaking his wrist last christmas. Most scared i've ever been, makes everything i've been through seem very tame

the precise moment i realised the car was going to hit me on my bike (cycle) last november.

I had really bad nightmares for the first few months and still get them.... not quite sure why my brain wants to remind me but it does.

Probably coming downstairs to greet my mums funeral car nothing i have ever experienced could compare to how scared i was at the knocking then the 13 step descent :(

flying into a cloud on my 2nd air experience flight only to see the air ambulance chopper flying right at me. very very very close!:(

Problems during my daugters birth ending up with an emergency ceasarian. I was **** scared. Got to see my wifes insides:)

When I received news that my dad had taken a nasty fall climbing in the alps and had broken his pelvis, several ribs etc.. and was currently in surgery.

I've traveled a lot, I've served in Iraq I've seen a few nasty things and have been in some stressful situations but I'd never previously experienced the complete head **** that occurs when a close relative is potentially going to die. Fortunately he was very very lucky and pulled through but it was the most stressful few hours of my life.

Truthfully?

Walking out to an aircraft at Munich airport and getting on it knowing that it's your only realistic route home yet wanting to do anything but that, having realised that you do indeed suffer from aerophobia. This was in June 2006 & I've not flown since :(

was pretty damn scared on tuesday, came down with man flu, felt pretty awful, took my temperature and it showed 106.3, nhs direct scrambled an ambulance and told my gf to fill a bath with cold water. I felt bad but I didn't feel that bad for someone who was supposed to shortly be in the middle of a coma/brain damage. We used a digital thermometer to take the temperature so I told the missus to grab the normal mercury jobbie, I blew 103.8! turns out the digital thermometer was potentially low on batteries, needless to say its in the bin along with my pants!

I must add this was a Ryanair flight not a light aircraft flight(!) I guess it was just the culmination of some bad experiences I'd had on previous flights....

That's about the most scared I have been due to the fact I could do nothing about the situation :/

I hope you did something about it since then - i.e. a big donation since they had to send a lifeboat and helicopter because you and your GF missed the tide coming in.
