I actually used to have this as a kid running on a 486 33 Mhz PC! DOS 5 and windows 3.0 I think.

That would be Maniac Mansion.

Just come across this and I remember having the demo of this on the Amiga!
I have no clue at all what the name is but that screen you posted was a part in the demo. I am pretty sure from what I remember, that if you go down in that cave place with the weird sacrifice thing going on, you would get caught and the game would end.
Of course I could be wrong.

Correct! I actually owned this game on the Amiga (and later PC).

Another hint: It was actually most succesful on the Atari ST.

Oops, yes you're right. I was looking at screenshots for both games, chose one from Absence Makes The Heart Go Yonder, but had The Perils of Rosella on my brain. Yes, it's your turn.
