Dell messed up

Well, today I get an invoice payment reminder, not for the laptop sent in error, but the one I actually paid for.

After an hour on the phone they still don't know what is wrong, telling me they will have to confer with the account manager! (obviously in India)

They have finally after several weeks of unanswered emails and promises over the phone to arrange pick-up of the extra laptop sent a courier today (he hasn't arrived yet though)

Frankly this is absolute madness, they haven't got a clue what they are doing and if they think I am paying twice for a single laptop they are sorely mistaken.

I will never buy from Dell again, it was a nightmare to buy it to begin with, and now it is a nightmare to return their property to them and get them to acknowledge that the original invoice has been paid.

Why didn't you just keep the laptop, this is why you just be quiet and put on your win-face :p

Sadly, this is a shining example of why its often better for everyone involved to actually do ths slightly dishonest thing, and keep the laptop.

Dell clearly dont know about it, dont care about it, and dont care about you as a customer. And you've caused yourself a tonne of hassle you could have done without, over someone else's mistake.

Like I said way back during the first few posts, let them discover their mistake. They're not paying you to do their job and waste your own time.

Should have given it to me after all :D

It wouldn't have mattered because the Laptop they want to charge me for is the one I was actually invoiced for and paid to begin with. Effectively they haven't credited my account with the payment I made in the first place. It is probably unrelated to the extra laptop.

They have no record of the other one, only because I told them did they realise I had two.

Crazy way to operate a business in my opinion. Never again.

I know, you did the right thing :)

But really, you should have given it to me.... :p

You're right I should have auctioned it for charity or something. Not even a thank-you from the Manager I spoke to today or anything.

And they have the audacity to attempt to charge me twice for the one I actually wanted.

AAARGH, I'm a little miffed to say the least and will be using my extensive vocabulary to convey that to the UK operation director in due course.

Have to say I'd keep it, until they asked me back for it.. but I wouldn't sell it in case they asked for it back 6 months later!

Just being honest about my dishonesty.

Since they invoiced you a 2nd time for the laptop you paid for already do you think dell's accounts people would have noticed the double payment and notified you and issued a refund?

I think not!

Probably not, but then I have integrity, they obviously do not.

Needless to say Dell are not my favourite people at the moment.

Hey man, it's a dog eat dog world!

Like many others, I'd have no issues keeping it for myself where companies like dell are concerned just because of all the rubbish they've put people through and continue to do so on a daily basis with no apology and no sign of sorting their act out!
