Terror Threat

I'm going to go out on a limb here and predict that the next terrorist attack will be committed by people acting on their religious beliefs.

Why do they always want to blow up planes and buses and cars and things? What is the obsession with transport, especially blowing up transport?

Why not let a pack of rabies infected pit bulls loose in Oxford street or something? Surely that would cause more terror?

Planes, buses, trains, stations, shopping centres all will offer maximum return from whatever attack comes next.

There’s two elements to terror tactics, one is the threat, which in its self can cause disruption and financial loss, the other is an actual attack, which if successful the results speak for themselves. There will always be more threat than attack.

I would imagine a Mumbai style attack would be the one of the worst to defend against, and dependant on location would be cause severe devastation. By the time the targets had been taken out you could only guess how much devastation would be caused. The local ARV or armed bobby would quickly find themselves out of their depth in a situation like that.

As for pit bulls on Oxford street, I thought Pit Bulls were a banned breed :D

Compared to the IRA these terrorists are an absolute joke, yet there is more hysteria now than there's ever been.

Come on that's a bit harsh, how many other terrorist gangs armed with little more than AK-47's and RPG's could repel the USA military for almost 10 years? this is the stuff of legends.

Killing tens of thousands at for example the Super Bowl is actually really difficult when all you're capable of is really simple acts like 9/11...

There are likely people out there who are not cold in their grave thanks to that very same thing.

Balanced by how many sent to their graves by bad American intelligence? The war in Iraq for example?

I'm not bothered about sky. I haven't even read the article.

Then how can you say it isn't scaremongering in one of your posts?

Indeed. I never find these so called threats credible at all, just another fear tactic by our joke of a government

It probably wasn't at first but is now seen as stick to keep us in line. Look how Labour made it a terrorist act to block fuel depots thus making protesting against the price a fuel a lot more difficult and risky.

Why do you doubt the credibility of the alerts?

Ever read Peter and the wolf? :)

I have wondered though, as the majority of our police are not armed, how many people could potentially get killed before an armed team is even sent in?
