Just got an iphone 4 on Vodafone, is their still a way to get the free bumpers as mine drops 2-3 bars whenever i'm using it as a net device?

Do I call Apple or go into the Vodafone shop?

Hi

I believe the free bumper programme ended on September 30th 2010.

From wikipedia:

"On 16 July 2010, at a press conference, Steve Jobs announced that Apple would provide all iPhone 4 owners with a free case to help solve the antenna issue and a refund to those users who had already purchased a Bumper. The free case offer would be valid until 30 September 2010, when Apple would re-evaluate the situation."

Also if you google this iphone problem, loads of sites confirm the bumper offer ended on Sept 30th.

Don't bother with the bumper.

I had one on mine and grit got between the case and the phone and scratched the antenna band to holy hell.

How did that happen, should be a tight fit all the way around?

I wouldn't be without mine, the amount of times I've dropped it or it's slipped off a sofa etc. onto the floor it would be dented to hell!

Try ringing Apple Customer Service - I think someone here posted they managed to get one a while after the offer ended.

I'm going to try sometime.

Just say the issue is bad and that you'll have to return the phone or something.

It is a tight fit. I can't explain it, the grit must have just snuck in through normal use.

Took it off one night and saw the marks. Called Apple to complain that this seemed like a design flaw / blag a replacement but they weren't having anything :(

Like most cases its best to take them off and give them a bit of a clean to avoid getting crap in there to damage the phone...

Ive had my iP4 cased in a bumper since lauch - not one bit of damage but I clean the case once a month to make sure

ps3ud0

This is where I get confused.. I was cleaning it every other day before this happened!

just complain, complain and complain untill they let you have it. the iPhone problem is their fault and they SHOULD fix it. unfortunately with Apple noting is simple and everything is slow
love iPhone, iPod and iPad
but hate Apple

sorry to sound really angry :)

Mines starting to crack and break apart around the charget slot, and I have to remove mine when im using the 3rd party USB charger at work and teh incar charger, not a great cover, but it was free...not sure if that means if I can moan or not!.

Mine has marks all round from bumper use, cleaned mine often as well, very annoying but apple won't do anything..

There is a massive thread on apples forums with people complaining of the same problem

Mines been on since August and I haven't got any damage. A friend of mine who works in an Apple store currently told me that if it did ever damage my phone, bring it in and they're likely to replace the unit.

Perhaps try your luck in store?

nearest store to is in Milton Keynes or London, i don't drive so a day trip either way.

From past experience and what has been said above i dont think they will replace it.

I do have a dodgy heat sensor though, found out from my £14 quid carphone warhouse insurance today that they need to send it off for checking, if faulty i get a refurbished phone, if not i get the option of a new one for £60 excess - ended call and cancelled two mins later

Pointless excess when i could actually pay the train fare to London (circa 20 squid) and get a brand new replacement from Apple or claim on Barclays bank insurance for my usual 5 squid a month

wondered what i was thinking when i agreed to it..

I have my bumper but havent used it since i got it back in Sept...its just sat in my bedside drawer gathering dust as i use a Sena leather slip pouch to keep my iphone4 in.

when the case program was on. i got that clear belkin case it covers the sides and back. best case ever. just get a screen protector and that and your sorted. no scratching easy to remove no need to cover the back of the phone in plastic to protect it from grit rubs

I also have that. The plastic gets scraped up pretty easily, so I took it off.

Also, why use a screen protector? The glass has a smudge free coating.

The oleophobic layer itself can get scratched over time.

Anyway I recently got a replacement iphone 4 from the apple store. This new iphone 4 has some sort of coating on the sides to give it a matte finish. Kinda helps with the signal issue. They did seem pretty keen on giving me a new iphone. Whole process took me 10 minutes.

Try getting a new iphone like that ? This new iphone also has weird star shaped screws which make it a b**ch to open up.
