So I went to look for a car this morning, here is the story behind my adventure down to a garage this morning. Both me and my father set off in separate cars – as he was also looking for a new car. This being said we thought we could strike up a deal by buying two cars and part x my Audi TT and his SLK

So we arrive at the garage, the car in question – Nissan 350z was not to be seen. I double checked the forecourt only to be told it had been taken for service and was not due for show until Monday. However I did spot another 350z that looked slightly different. It was a 350z Nismo edition with full spec, sat nav 20’’ wheels, nismo exhaust, xeons - fully loaded with everything however, it was tucked away in the corner no price, nothing. I was informed the car had just come in that morning for them to sell – he got on the phone got me a price based on his thoughs that the annual mileage was 47k – I was still happy

Took it for a test drive with my farther following in his chosen car off the forecourt - BMW 5 series.

Loved the car from the word go;

Settled on a price for both cars, looked at the service history etc, when I spotted a mistake the last MOT which I thought stated 80,000 miles was obviously wrong; closer inspecting it was 8,000 – we had just agreed a price.

What I saw on the trip during the test drive and the dealer saw was infact – 4,700 miles. Lucky we are both rubbish at maths :D

Boy was he gutted

Here is the car in question;

So the last MOT for the 350Z recorded 8,000 miles but the odometer says 4,700? Or am I missing something there.....

Congrats on the purchases either way!

The car looks awesome! Hope its a good deal.

If the mileage at MOT was 8000 how come the mileage on the odometer is 4700?

It was not the odometer - we where both looking at the trip reset, where you e.g. You can fill up with petrol and set the clock back to zero.

I would consider it a good deal.

2008 Plate - 8,000 clock
Full Loaded - i mean everything all the gadgets etc.

I paid £14,995

So they mistook the last trip of 4.7k for an odometer reading of 47k whereas the true odometer is just over 8k?

Both cars look nice. :)

Looks awesome. Retarded salesman is retarded though :p.

How much do you reckon he would have wanted for it with the correct mileage?

Correct, the actuall mileage of the car is a little over 8k however he gave me a price there and then for the car for 47k miles. Not sure how much it would impacted the price had he known this at the time?

You've picked it up for trade price :)

That makes up for the £1,000 insurance i have just had to fork out :(

Dam - previous owner must have changed the alloys'

The car also had NISMO-tuned independent multi-link suspension, Brembo brakes with four-piston front and two-piston rear calipers (with 12.8-inch (330 mm) front and 12.7-inch (320 mm) rear rotors) and NISMO-branded gunmetal grey RAYS alloy wheels (18x9-inch front and 19x10-inch rear with 245/40WR18 front, 265/35WR19 rear Bridgestone Potenza RE050A tires), and NISMO-branded tuned exhaust. All Nismo versions are "Ready For Track" with the safety equipment in it.

Grey alloys would have set the car off !

It probably doesn't matter but did you also mean to block out your dad's numberplate since you've done yours?

Looks like a couple of nice cars, excuse the ignorance but is <10,000 miles normal for a 350Z after a couple of years? I'm not doubting it is correct but just wondered if there was anything unusual about it seeming so low (i.e. you weren't surprised by it potentially having done 80,000 or 47,000 miles in the same period of time).
