What's the best 24in monitor on OcUK out of these 3?

LG W2442PE
Samsung P2450H
BenQ EW2420

or is there one better? <£200

Purpose: Movies, gaming, office work/browsing.

what types of games? if you don't play fast paced games too often then definitely go for the EW2420, otherwise I think the LG seems to be the favourite at the moment

Mhm, tbh, I maybe will game once or twice a week, if I'm lucky. I don't play fast paced games I prefer RPGs over FPS.

So you think the EW2420 would be the best? Had to be the most expensive one as well didn't it.

You get what you pay for. That said, I went for the Samsung when I wanted a 24" monitor, simply because a mate has one and I like his. Questionable viewing angles, slightly, and it's a touch wobbly 'cause the stand isn't that heavy, but as long as you're not pounding the desk it's great.

Tbh, I've owned samsung monitors before and the stands always suck.

But for the few quid difference I think I'll go for the BenQ, hear good things about this monitor.

Intel i5 2500k £185
BenQ EW2420 £182
MSI P67A-GD665 £125
Fractal Design Define Artic White R3 £88
Antec TruePower Modular 650w PSU £74
Corsair XMS3 4GB £45
Razer Deathadder £44
Barracuda 500GB 7200RPM £27
Logitech X-140 2.0 Speakers £19
LiteOn DvD Sata RW £15

Total ~£800

This is what system looks so far, just need gpu and keyboard, will buy ssd later.

^ go for the Samsung F3 1TB instead, bit faster and newer and only £10 more

for GPU, get a GTX 570 or a 6950 and unlock it, not much point in buying anything more powerful

also use 'novatrise' to get VAT taken off some of the products

reason i got that seagate is cuz it's very cheap on offer and I was gonna upgrade to an SSD later.

What's the difference in speed between the samsung f3 and the one i picked anyway?

GPU I decided on the Asus gtx 460 on offer for £114 because tbh, I hardly game anyway and if I do it's games that don't need gpu power.

Im buying a new monitor monday and I was originally gonna go with the samsung P2450H, but after reading this, is the Benq EW2420 better for a little bit more? It would mainly be used for gaming, movies, browsing, and 3d modelling so some colour sensitive programs involved. There arn't any user reviews on the Benq so I'm abit weary?

Basically is the Benq REALLY better than the Samsung for the money?

Cheers and hope I'm not hijacking.

From what I gather is that the benq uses a VA panel versus the inferior TN panel the samsung uses, the difference is £4 so it seems worth it.

I don't need storage space, I'd be happy with a 60gb ssd if they weren't so expensive. But thanks for explaining anyway.

I dunno, I think benq isnt as good... from expert reviews:

We can't recommend the EW2420 for work that requires colour accuracy and moving pictures, be they film or games, due to signs of ghosting.

The LED backlight is bright and even, however, although we felt it had a slight blue cast that made images seem cold. Even with a bit of tweaking, colours were a bit duller than on other displays we've seen.

And my friend just bought a new 24" but sent it back due to poor colours, and I swear it was a Benq but I'll find out when I speak to him. I guess my only option for around that price range is the samsung then.

Are you going for the Benq?

I was but now I dont know lol

Looks like the Samsung is the best huh? It just makes me cringe spending £180 on a TN panel monitor, I might just get a U2311H if i have to pay that price :S

Why are you jumping straight from the Benq back to the Samsung? The LG has good reviews, fully adjustable stand too!

I don't know, from reading these forums everyone seems to recommend either the BenQ or the Samsung. Tbh I don't know anymore, man why can't monitors be as easy to compare as other components lol ;p

PC Pro and Techradar have both reviewed the LG W2442PA, which from what I gather is the same as the W2442PE.

Here is another http://www.wirefresh.com/lg-flatron-w2442pa-24-monitor-review/

The Benq has a problem with ghosting and colours, and the Samsung gets quite a bad review in some places, look at cnet.

I'd go with the LG if I were you, there don't seem to be any reports of the obvious problems the other two have.

Exactly my thoughts :D

I much prefer the almost non-existent styling to the shiny dust magnet alternative.

Yeah me too, I love the look of professional monitors, Dell have some nice ones but are expensive.

Shiny bezels, gloss and plastic just seem chilish imo. But i guess some people would like the "modern" look.
