***The Official Gran Turismo 5 Thread***

god damn the daytona nascar event is annoying everytime I get nudged by the ai

I know this may seem counter productive, but I won first time doing this:

Turn the ABS off

Lift off as you start the race, as the 9th or 10th car passes you, punch the gas. You should end up in turn one at the back a car length behind 11th. Run round in 12th (Yes, last place) but keep close to the 11 car, lifting as you get close to him. Repeat this for as long as you dare, then a lap or two from the end, go for it, you should be able to draft up to the front easily enough, then just hold them off for a few more turns and you're home and dry :)

I find it impossible on a DS3 - just hard to make small changes on the thumb stick...

Thanks for the pep talk ;)

Poor ninja edit :p

I cant do the low line Jeff Gordon special events with a DS3 either - the high lines are easier (just) but even they are pretty difficult

I do think the bronze's, silvers and golds are in no way comparable from event to event imo - surely all bronze's should be roughly the same difficulty , same with the silver's and golds

Im finding about 20% of the game so far is appropriately hard to get gold - 70% to get silver, 5% to get bronze & 5% to get no meaningful result at all (all with DS3 of course) upto level 19 or so (majority of special events done and completed all of first two levels of A Spec - is Amateur 2nd cant remember now) - majority of S licence is complete too, one more silver on Sazuka and then I will hammer S-10)

I REALLY think they should have done a seperation between wheel times and DS3 times (and surely it wouldnt be that hard to program), some of the times are blatantly done with a wheel that the DS3 just isnt capable of (imo of course)

Finally, I did the Top Gear Camper Van event. It was surprisingly easy and can’t believe it took me so many attempts. What was even weirder is that the third event in the kebelwagon or whatever it is was even easier and got gold for that on only my third attempt.

The top gear lotus event however, hmm can only manage silver no matter how hard I try, I just can’t seem to nail the final lotus to take 1st.

Excellent game, still playing it and for me that’s real value for money and right up there for me with forza 3 as most played game I’ve recently got on next gen consoles.

A spec? I did that in a Countach! If it's B spec don't tell them to overtake for most of the lap or they will hit the barriers, only tell them to overtake on the start/finish straight and on the drag up the hill to casino square :)

A spec I walked easy, it's B spec that can't get close.

I golded the TG camper race first time, Silver after a few tries in the Lotus, havent done the final VW one yet.

Currently doing the Nascar series, all 1sts aside a DNF on the second race when some numpty punted me flying off the track!

Just won the nascar championship despite a DNF and a 7th on the final race! Just the F1 series to go now in that tier.

I'll try the lotus again shortly. Last time I was right behind the 1st and 2nd place going into those last two bends, pushed a bit too hard and went wide. Could have had it easy

Looks like I'm done with this game for a bit then. Completed the final endurance event last night and the level 24 gift ticket popped out a F1 2007 :D

Need to repeat a short race a lot to get the trophy for "raising a B-Spec driver to the peak of his career", but that can wait. Think my final mileage count was about 75,000 :eek::eek:

EDIT: You also get 3,700,822 exp for the final race. What the hell is the point? you're already level 40!

lolwut? I have to admit I struggled with that one, the damn car just understeered too much for my liking. Here's how I golded it in the end:

ABS off. (What no [thumbnail]?)
edit: oh btw, just bought a Sauber C9, jealous?
edit: now how the frump am I supposed to know if I need inters or wets? The preview of the track just shows.. some rain. No clear indication of how heavy or how much standing water there is.
edit: I went on inters, turns out the rest of the field were on wets. Wheel spin up to 140 with max dforce on CLK-GTR. De la Sarthe, interesting on the brakes and in traction zones.

No, but there are some thing in your garage I'm quite jealous of :p

Yeah I never know what tires to use, it just show some rain

And the thing in that video was patched a while back right?

(edit: yes I watched the whole video)yes. I'm just saying, that was a difficult license test, bar cheating like that, which is now not possible as it's been patched out (I believe)
Now, photo mode, how do I get rain to show up in photos?! It's there when I watch the replay but any attempts to take photos it either doesn't show up or it's just some tiny stationary bright spots, but no decent "driving rain". As soon as the shutter speed is low enough to blur it, it doesn't show up.

Yeah the TG lotus event is silly hard!

I managed the VW one with relative ease.

Yea hard comfort tyres on an Elise. WTF!

The last one in the WW2 German car is pretty easy though tbh. Best way is to ensure you dont hit the limiter by going to half throttle at 50. The AI hits the limiter and slows to less than 45 for a bit.

I managed to get ahead by the start of the 2nd lap on that one. Only problem then is avoiding the other cars at the cross overs!
