The *Official* Eve Online Thread

not many people in EVE stick to the same thing all the time.
Currently my small corp is doing empire wardecs, great fun 5-6 of us causing 200man alliances to crumble and split :)

also as stated before DONT get in a BS before you're ready, the number of times we've killed 10 man carebear BS fleets with battlecruisers is silly

(also level4 win mission ship is a HAM tengu ;) vs gallente L4's)

Another bit of advice I would give is what I'm currently doing with my new alt. As I'm in 0.0 we suffer from war dec from '1337' pvp corps such as the orphanage. But what they dont relise is we have very little need to come to high sec anymore, and on the odd occasion we have neutral alts to move stuff to a drop off point. So my alt is trained for a freighter (caldari) and is now in the process off training for a hulk with t2 fittings. Now after this I have 2 options. Either continue training on this toon to fly a vargur in 215 days or make another toon in a spare slot for manufacturing. Either is possible as I use eve mon and already have enough time to pay for skill books etc.

Regarding the mining op. 40hulks, 2 orcas and 3 rorqs compressing at all times. Came to over 40mil m3 which let us keep the gigantic belt for the next day ;)

decided to give the trial another go its downloading now, i never knew what to do in the game after the tutorial finished i just used to fly around a bit and kill an enemy ship or 2 lol, i have no idea how upgrading skills work, what you should focus on, how to make money, how to get new ships and upgrades :p

Ill try and stay focused on it this time as i think if i could actually learn it, it could be a very rewarding experience.

Well once you've done the tutorial there are lots of agents that will get you into the various business types. But these things won't just land in your lap, you do have to move.

id say give GW another try, or wait until the new star wars then, Eve requires a good 10+ hours a week, 20+ is more than better though

I got bored once UW farming with perma sins or w,e got nerfed and not going back till gw2.
Guess ill chill on bc2 and some flight sims until something decent crops up.
Still need to play me2/hl2/amensia and blops campaigns lol

How hard is EVE to get into to?
To play a couple of hours casually a week can you get much out of it?

Can be picked up easy enough if you spend a few sessions playing following through the tutorials and reading up on things. It doesn't spoon feed you so you need to work out a few things yourself and the learning curve can be tricky but its rewarding.
Couple hours a week with the right group of people can be good fun :)

eve is a second job, give it a miss

It doesn't have to be.

Eve requires a good 10+ hours a week, 20+ is more than better though
Rubbish.
No requirement like that, you don't need to spend time playing the game leveling up so you can come back when you like (aside from keeping your skill queue going when required) and play when you like.

If you've got just small amounts of time to play the game I'd imagine joining Red vs Blue would be good fun. I know a few people who do it with alt accounts just for a laugh.

I play maybe 3 hours tops Monday to Friday and another 4 hours at the weekend and I get on fine with eve. :)

Sometimes it's more, somethimes it's less. It just depends what you want to get into and how controlling your corp try to be.

I'm on one of the ocuk corps which are fairly easy going and that suits me just fine.

i actually payed attention to the tutorial this time and quite enjoying it, im in a corp but its pretty small, anyone on here in a corp recruiting? thanks

OCUK is actively recruiting now as of yesterday if you're interested in joining a corp that will help train you up on the things the tutorial touches upon.
