Dark Blue Audi TT Stolen from Kenilworth, Warwickshre. Reg: RA57 HHS

Just feel violated...knowing that somebody has been in my house and taken what's not theirs. It's the cheek of it more than anything, the car can be replaced but it's now having to worry about will it happen again in the future?

Invest some money on doors and windows that wont be opened easily and an alarm.

In my experience not much point. If they target a specific car then no matter what security/fence/dog you have they will get the car. Even if it means waiting for your wife/daughter/son to come back at night and wait with weapons.

Just try and move on. Get another through the insurance.

Well in my experience most **** bags are opportunists and take the easiest route.

Dont make the mistake of thinking that every car thief wants to turn staling a car into an aggravated burglary because the vast majority dont. So decent security will work.

not to be demeaning to your mum, but a lesson learned of not leaving the keys laying around in view when out the house. most people put them on hooks or tables right near the front door. Tell her to get used to putting them somewhere out of view cause if burglars have to spend ages looking there more likely to move on or get disturbed into leaving before they have a chance to find them. I always keep my keys on me even if i leave the car and go for a walk.

You've not seen what Fett's dog can do have you

Always keep my keys with me, if I'm upstairs the keys are in my room, if I'm downstairs chances are they're in my pocket.

I used to bring mine upstairs with me, but read so many stories of people waking up to their own kitchen knives in their face with some thug demanding the keys.

If they want it that much, they will get it.

I leave the keys downstairs, not in plain sight just asking for someone to smash a window, but hung up on a key rack which isn't in plain sight from a window.

seems as thou diesel theft is on the increase aswel, 3 of the diesel cars in my cul de sac had their tanks dripped dry two nights ago aswel. nissan leaf sounds like a good car at the mo

My keys are in an obvious place. If they want the car that much that they put a tracking device on it and drive to my location to await my return, they can have it!

Mine too - leave keys to both cars on view. You want them badly enough - you help yourself, I've got a young child and a baby upstairs, no car is worth running the risk of them waking up/becoming involved in any way shape or form.

The officer who is running the case related to my incident has been excellent at keeping me in the loop about progress; I got a good update in November 2010 as to where the case sat including the various pleading status and timelines for court cases, kicking off this month to progress those who believe they were not involved together with sentancing those who admit they were. I can only pat West Midlands serious crime on the back for their communications on ths one, the officer running has been really excellent and if I raise a question he answers within a day or so, which I think is superb. They often get a bad rap but the officer running this case has been excellent at keeping me in the loop.

i got rid of my 2008 S3 for exactly this reason, neighbours were reporting suspicious people hanging about, in one case a guy talking down a headset? just not worth having anything nice nowadays :(

Its not the various squads that give coppers a bad name, its the ****ers that stop you in your car.

Iv been saying this for years, they want to have a serious look at the "public face" of policing.

Most of my friends who are in the force have a common view of 'traffic' that falls in line with most of the general public. It seems they have a certain 'style' that goes with being the driver of a jam butty.

Cars have always been stolen, you just hear about it a lot more now due to the internet and being part of online motoring communities. Personally I know about 5 people who had cars stolen in the 1990s, but strangely none since that decade (not including people I know via the net).

You got rid of your car because some guy was walking down your street, possibly asking his wife what she was making for dinner, using his bluetooth headset?

The RS4 is the car of choice for crims these days so I've been told by more than one fed. The sods stuck a tracker on mine and everything and still they've failed to take it away. :(
