Next best thing to an iPhone

Well Android is outselling iphones so statistically this is an Android forum if you go by how many users of each make up the forum.

If you want a full 4-5 days of web browsing/gaming/sat naving/movie watching on a hi-res 3.5"+ screen then you'll be waiting a long, long time ;)

Get a spare battery for peace of mind.

Yea, dock with a spare battery holder is the solution for these new smartphones. Well, it's a solution for non iphone users:p

cos it's annoying, my e72 used to last 4-5 days without having to charge it. People are more worried about dual cores than decent battery longevity:confused::confused::confused:

just got a san francisco and the battery life is so bad:p having to charge it daily is annoying.

the battery on my SF lasts 2 or 3 days when the wifi/3g is off. on it lasts a day and a half with quite a lot of use.

Couldnt go back to apple after moving to a desire, so much more customisable, faster, more features, cheaper, more updates, more apps, you can run a lot of apple apps on the desire now.

Can the desire run nanostudio? If so is it easy to do?

2.3 adds scope for low latency but it really depends on the phone/tablet manufacture. A minimum spec of 45ms might be enough to temp some devs? Best stick to Apple until a there's loads of guaranteed high end devices around to target.

...and I'm sure most people will find fart apps just as useful as nanostudio :p

If you cant afford the iphone 4, then the next best thing imo is a SGS/DHD. I havnt really tired out w7 phones yet, and my friend has a iphone 4 which I use a lot any in many ways its not much better than my SGS, the battery is about the same for both of us at the end of a long day were both around the 70% mark with 3g on all day and usually stuff going on. iPhone does have a more polished finished but android is getting there now I think and isnt as bad as when my bro had 1.5.

You should really just try out a few phones in a shop and see which you like the most, or go with a 3gs :).

I had to look up nanostudio, but it seems to be one of those 'Everyone's a DJ and record producer' applications that seem to have sprouted up over the last 10 years as digital recording has been made easy. On the whole I'd say fart apps are probably more of a productive use of time for most people. ;)

^ One... You can hook midi stuff up iPads now! :p

Each to their own, you can load your own fart samples into Nanostudio if you really want to get creative! :D :p

Still it's good to know that 2.3 is going to offer improved audio latency, but I think 45ms that still be a little on the high side, when the iPhone is around 10ms, and real synths and drum machines tend to be around 7ms.

If they can get it below 25ms, then I'd consider buying an Android phone or tablet.

Hi, music software has come a long way over the last few decades, and to have something as powerful as Nanostudio running on something that you can fit in your pocket is a godsend, weather you are a professional musician or simply make music for fun... Simply because you can do it on the train, bus, etc... I'd rather make a few tunes instead of playing Angry Birds over and over... :p

This isn't music I'd normally listen to, but I think the fact that someone can make something like this armed with nothing more than a phone is rather cool myself!

I can't justify spending so much on an iPhone, so what's the next best thing in terms of quality and functionality?

Thanks.

I asked exactly the same question a couple of months ago after using my daughters IPhone for a month but couldn't justify the cost of having one (being a fanboy of the IPOD Touch I thought the IPhone was wonderful).
I ended up going through Quidco to http://www.mobiles.co.uk/ and my SGS costs £11.25/month.
It is the best toy I've ever bought.

I hate iphones myself but ive seen a deal with the network three

iphone4, white or black, 35 a month for 2000 any network minutes 5000 texts and 3000 three to three minutes, and the phone only costs 69 quid.
