people who buy a toy

I’ve got a Mamod steam engine that was bought when a shop was closing down and that’s never been out of the box. I forgot about it. :D

Are there any toys currently on sale that are worth keeping in the box?

I imagine that's difficult to judge at the moment. It might be that a Harry Potter toy on sale now is worth £1000 in the future, it might also be worth nothing. You're probably better off buying limited edition items if you're hoping for a value increase but toys are such a difficult market from what I can tell.

Lots of people make fortunes out of unopened toys but the value of the toy increasees over time so dependant on how long that person lives for depends on if its a profitable exercise ;p

Hot Toys Figures.

Cost of Movie Master piece Aliens USCM Hicks in 2006- £60

Amount Movie Master piece Aliens USCM Hicks sold for on ebay in 2010 £700.

Cost of Movie Master piece Aliens USCM Powerloader in 2008- £200.

Cost MISB Movie Master piece Aliens USCM Powerloader retail in 2010 - £1200 from the last two places I checked.

I have the full set in MISB condition, If I flogged it as a set Its feasable if I got the amount the individual figures have sold for in the past couple of years, that I could get over £3k back for a £600 investment over 3 years I've had the full set for (6 marines, one alien, one powerloader).

I used to do it with hornby stuff. Anything limited edition I'd buy, carefully wrap and leave. Sold a £6 1996 wagon for £25. Not much but still 4 times what I paid for it. Still got a few boxed mint locos for troubled times!
