Brazil floods: Poor dog!

It's a dog. As sad as it is to lose something you've built a bond with, it's not like it's a child or anything. Good god.

I find it disturbing, the power that the dog has over some people. The first and second posts of this thread sum it up. 500 people dead (you know, people, capable of abstract thought, opposable thumbs, invented music, art, philosophy, built the pyramids), who cares, but one dog (known to eat faeces) dies and to the OP it's a tragedy. Lame.

The stupidity shown in this thread is beyond comprehension  I'm sure the OP cares about the 500 people but they arent in this video, only the dog....

Agreed 100%.

Bold for emphasis.

lrn2read articles perhaps? you know, like the one that the OP linked which happens to have a video in it too.

The article doesn't happen to have a video in it. The video the OP referred to happened to have an article with it. The post is about the video.

Y'know... I don't think it matters so much in the sense of the worth of human life vs. that of a dog's, when it comes this.

You can clearly see in the video that this particular man values his dog and is doing everything he can to save it. When it comes to it, though, he just can't hold on to the animal when it comes to saving his own life.

Above all, it must have been absolutely horrible for him to have to let go of his companion like that. I know I wouldn't be able to get over that for a long time. That's what it makes it horrifying -- not the simple fact that a dog died.

Oooo you're edgy.

Maybe he doesn't? Not everyone is trying to be cooler than you.

I'm saddened by it more because of how quickly the owner realized she couldn't keep her pet. If it was a child then it would have been saved, not so for the dog so you can't compare them.

tbh i don't actually care too much about the people or the dog...

That's the kind of thinking i can get behind!

Reminds me of the old joke

Adolf "Ve vill kill all of ze Jews and one duck"W
SS Officer "Why the duck?"
Adolf "See! I told you nobody cares aboiut the jews"

I read it in an accent, and i literally LOL.

And yes i mean literally as in literally, not like " I literally threw up my lungs i was laughing how much" -> Wanted to clear that up

How could you not have read that in an accent?

I felt a bit sick watching that video on the news last night, also watching some Australian farmers trying to rescue a drowning cow - dunno what happened to the cow but it didn't look like they were going to be successful, the cow was very distressed as you can imagine. I don't think news outlets ought to be showing this kind of animal suffering on TV :(

Wakey wakey, life is not a bucket of roses.Welcome to the real world.

I for one donate to 3-4 animals charities every month, maybe do the odd human charity once a year. It's personal feelings at the end of the day.

This forum post actually angered me slightly, something that hasn't happened in a long, long time.

I actually can't comprehend the fact that you'd rather give money to save an animals life over a humans. It's shocking to me that we live in a world where people would rather save a cute, fluffy, dumb animal over our fellow man.

lol some right idiots on here, i can tell he was talking about the poor dog that as swept away, he wasnt comparing it to all the humans that have died!

WHY?
I dont give to any charity, do i anger you to?

BECAUSE!

Not necessarily, if you're minted then i would be mildly displeased with your lack of giving, if you're of normal wealth then i can't really complain. At the end of the day, with a normal level of disposable income, it's unfair to EXPECT people to give to charity.

The difference is, if someone is giving to charity, why make a point of giving to animal based charities over those that help impoverished humans? It makes no sense at all to me.
