HTC Desire HD (Ace)

Does that occur even when you're photographing something with the camera parallel to the object?

In the image you posted, it could be down to the depth of field, as it looks something like this

If you find that it still happens when you're taking a photo of something flat, with the camera parallel to it, then it's possible that the lens is misaligned. I hadn't noticed it on my phone, but I can't test it on mine as it is with HTC at the moment.

Yep it still occurs regardless of what angle the camera is to the object I am taking a photo of. I find it strange though that taking a photo of something close in the dark with the flash on, it doesn't occur.

I'm looking into buying an unlocked/sim-free HTC Desire, the normal one, not HD.

How is it for music playback though? How well does it do as an MP3 player? As I'm looking for a phone with good music playback but with a good interface and just good overall functionality, as I hopefully want to use it as a replacement for my actual MP3 player. Is the sound loud? Especially with earphones plugged in? And is the sound playback quality any good, both unplugged and with earphones?

Thanks for the advice Tetsujin, I'll look in to getting a few of those today. As Russinating recommends I think I'll stay away from task killers at the moment.

Think it'll take me a few days to get to grips with it all but I'm determined to get this fone customised to the way I'll like it

can any one help with setting up my hotmail account on this, can not for the life of me make it work.

I *believe* you have to do hotmail as POP3, last time I tried to set it up with a normal email client (Outlook Express) it wouldn't work with IMAP. Using POP3 implies various complications if you want to access the mail account from multiple devices

Hey Guys,

I was thinking of getting this phone in a month or so to replace my nokia 5800. My only major concern is battery life and the fact that it doesn't have AMOLED display like the Nexus S and Retina display like the iphone. I quite like a rich vibrant display, especially since I expect to keep a new phone for at least 2 years!

What are the opinions of the owner's? Would HTC release a AMOLED version of the Desire HD in the future?

Edit: Also what is the stock storage options of the HTC Desire HD?

Yes, at some point in the future, a "better" one will come along. However, I've got to say I've not been looking at my DHD screen and thinking "man this is whack". It's perfectly fine.

That said, I've not had chance to do a side-by-side comparison with the competition. Unless you'll be doing that constantly though, I don't think you'll have an issue.

I compared my OLED Desire to my mates new SLCD DHD and the difference in colour saturation and deep blacks were night and day. Even without puting them side by side i noticed the difference. However i have been using my OLED desire for over 8 months now so i've been spoilt by its quality. If you've not had an OLED handset before than the SLCD on the DHD is acceptable. However if your like me and want the best screen tech OLED is where its at.

ran in too a strange issue, got everything set up the way i want so i decided to make a fresh nandroid back-up, boot into recovery and run back-up and it starts the back-up, then it will try to back up the system and will show this message "can't mount /system/!" has any one else experienced this or know of a solution?
