The Current Government

we didnt see people smashing up london or poking royals with sticks under the last government for 13 years, but 8 months of this shower, we have had people almost rioting and the worst it yet to come, welcome to tory 2011!

The mistake you're making in that statement is the assumption that HMRC and Vodaphone are on different sides. They're all working for the upper classes, with the sole aim of making the rich richer and the poor poorer.
"The poor poorer" - do you live in this country? I mean, come off it.

Ask yourself why. It demonstrates the (somewhat ironic) lack of intelligence of the protestors :).

Yes they're making tough decisions and sticking to them rather than the knee jerk spend spend of Labour.

God help us if that limp idiot Milliband gets in.

i wasnt approving of it, and it is moronic. Last tory government poll tax riots, this one student riots, somewhat of a trend developing that there is so much anger towards them, which can be put down to them wanting to protect the rich and eliminating the socialist policies.
You only have to look at the destruction of the nhs going on to see that the tories dont want to help others and keep the rich privileged, soon those that can afford medicine will be fine and those that cant left to the gutter. The nhs is the single best thing about this country and is a cornerstone of society, to let it go to **** is shocking

I can't really see any evidence of NHS destruction.

But, anyway, the 'people' seem to want to limit the NHS anyway. People don't want immigrants, foreigners or even fat people (see SC) to get free healthcare...

Answer the question man; do you support the unemployed family with 10+ kids we read about in the Daily Mail claiming £40k a year in benefits on the basis that it's legal? Or do you think that actually although they've done nothing legally wrong, £40k a year is a bit much to be claiming from the state when a lot of people who do have jobs earn a lot less than that.

If they're legally entitled to it (i.e they genuinely can't work due to certain problems or whatever) then yeah, I support them 100%. It's not their fault that they can claim for such a huge amount, it's the system.

It's only legal because there isn't a law making it illegal, that doesn't mean it's right that the super-rich who live in the UK can legally avoid paying the same taxes that you or I have to pay.

If it's legal and possible then I won't stop them doing it. Generally the super rich tend to bring a lot in to the country so we need them, especially at times such as these.

I'm guessing you're unaware of the financial crisis that we're in? Tough decisions would have been made by Labour too, there is no hiding from that, although they probably would have ****ed it up. The NHS has been up **** creek for a fair while before the new government came in....

despite the fact that scameron said that the nhs would be protected from budget cuts, the nhs is now facing budget cuts! and putting it in the hands of private companies to commission services, is the long slippery road to private healthcare. Oh and I think you will fine the 'people' will go spare when the realise they still have to pay NI and get even less from the NHS

Since when have politicians ever kept to their word? You're surprised by this?

oh please people still believe this financial mess BS, if they just made the banks pay back what we lent them instead of giving out billions in bonuses there would be no need for all this

If people are legitimately claiming silly amounts of benefits legitimately, then it is the system, not the claimant, that is at fault.

I'm currently claiming tax credits at a stupidly high rate because I was unemployed for a month last year. My claim next year will be heavily cut to recoup the excess I've been paid this year while I'm working and they're Latin me as thing I'm not. In he meantime, I'm putting the excess in an ISA earning interest tax free at 3%. I've got them coming and going. I'm doing it all by the book, but unfortunately the book was written by an idiot.

Ah, the good old bankers bonus debate, we'll leave that for another thread shall we? It's been covered time and time again. As I understand it the bank loans are just a small slice of the pie....

What i don't get is how most of the population understand this fact and yet don't see the need for real change.

Because people will just moan and do nothing about it! Also people seem to have very short memories and the general public is pretty dumb, so it's easy to see how they get away with it.

And if you take that attitude towards tax avoidance too then you'll see one of the problems with this government. Those who should be fixing the problems with the system are themselves exploiting them!

The bank bonuses don't cover one years deficit, never mind the huge debt we have. It is a very simplistic view to think that the only problem was the bank bailout (which may even make money in the medium term).

So why is it that rather than supporting calls to reform the tax system you instead support campaigns to target individuals or companies that are operating fulling within the current law?

Please tell me which tax avoiding politicians you have in mind.

Simplistic, yes, but this is effectively what Red Ed said on Andrew Marr show this morning (iPlayer).

He is hardly going to say "Sure, the banking crisis didn't help, but hell, we really shouldn't have been running a deficit during the boom years, that is economic madness!"
