Okay, this is my first ever overclocked rig, i have some knowledge of overclocking and how to do it but im not daring enough to try it myself with someone worth so much money, Im looking to buy a new gaming rig for the primary use being to Play world of warcraft, Listen to music ( Quite happy to see the Asus Rampage comes with a decent Sound card ) and for photo/video editing. Iv'e looked at all the Ultima overclocked gaming bundles and all the cataclysm gaming systems, and iv'e found the rig i like (Link below)

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FS-173-OE&groupid=43&catid=1270&subcat=

The only problem with this is WoW is not currently SLI Compatible so i want to upgrade the graphics card to a single GPU setup instead of the GTX 460 2x SLI, my card of choice being a GTX 580, On the same build with the same overclock, Is this possible, and how much would it cost?

Also: I Would like to purchase a gaming network card with my build and have it installed/slotted in place as i have no knowledge of how to install these, is that also possible?

Cheers guys, look forward to your replies :)

Hi and welcome to the forums. Do do know that Sandy Bridge (Intels new generation of CPUs has been released and offers better value for money than that rig you spec'd)

Have you considered buying and building it yourself. Much cheaper and more satisfying. It's very simple to do and these forums are a great place for help/queries.

Why not get a GTX 570 and overclock it a little. Offers much better value for money than a GTX 580 or a 6950 and flash it to a 6970.

Could add in a second GTX 570 later on.

Much better value for money!

I think all them changes would be done for you,put you paying for the privilege of ocuk building it at a high cost to yourself, you could build it yourself and have the new sandybridge for a lot less money higher spec and a oc that will be future proof for a good 4yrs it more as for the gaming network card its a waste of money .

Build it yourself. It doesn't need to be OC'd right away. Stay on the forums a while and learn how to do it after a few weeks/months of being on the forums.

For WoW that computer is by far overkill too. It will, however, last a few good years with any new games.

Another good option would be this one with the SSD and HD 6950:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FS-176-OE&groupid=43&catid=1917&subcat=

Bit cheaper than the 2600k system and will offer basically the same performance in games.

The OP did say video editing but it depends how hardcore it is.

If it's really just for gaming but with the odd big of editing then i5 is prolly the way to go.

Gaming will be the main purpose & Video editing isnt too hardcore, more so photo editing with Photoshop but i can do that quite easily on my current system and it has nothing on any of these rigs!
this build looks promising but with my current system running with 4GB RAM I have decided i want atleast 6GB So would happily pay the extra hundred quid for the Corsair 6GB @ 2000Mhz.
I'd want to run atleast a 4.2Ghz overclock so would a CPU cooler upgrade be worth the extra dosh?( Maybe the H70? )

Also thank you for the quick replies people, wasn't expecting half as many responses! :D

EDIT : The Ultimat Mosasuar also caught my eye,

Would change the 6950 To the GTX 570 , upgrade the RAM to 6GB @ 2000Mhz + change the HDD For the Spinpoint F3 and get myself a Dedi sound card, What do you guys think of this rig?

Why you recommending this CPU cooler to the OP? You got one and it's fab? Or perhaps a tech review linky to support the recommendation perhaps.

Why 8Gb of RAM? OCuK won't guarantee a OC with more than the stated RAM if he buys a bundle or pre built... you know?

I think you are misunderstanding something. Going from 2x2GB to 4x2GB of RAM would mean extra stress will be placed on the memory controller because of the two extra sticks of RAM, which can affect overclock stability; 2x4GB of RAM on the other hand 'should' be no more stressful than 2x2GB of RAM for the memory controller.

^^^^^ Think the OP has made it quite clear that he has no intention of building his own and if he asks for more RAM on a over clocked pre built he will get a polite "No" :)

Just to quote OcUK's note on the bundle description...

"Note - Please note that adding in additional memory to the spare slots will require new BIOS settings and the maximum clock speed attainable may be significantly reduced."

Clearly OcUK do not recommend using 4 sticks of RAM with their overclocked bundle, but that does not mean they can't do overclock bundle with 2 sticks of 4GB RAM. I don't see the harm of giving the guys a call to see if they can do it or not...it's just a phone call...you won't know for sure unless you asked :p
