So what do people have planned for Q1 2011?

Im in the market for upgrading to an SSD at the moment. Its worked out to be the final piece in my build so it will be interesting to see what plans other people have in mind before i splash out.

Im thinking of getting one of these 100GB OCZ Vertex 2's

But Im getting a niggling feeling i should wait for the sata 3 drives. Any thoughts?

ive got one of those vertex 2 100gb's comming tomorrow as an RMA replacement for my vertex LE, you might see it on the MM in a few days if you get ur post count up :)

I'd wait and see what Intel bring to the table, should be significantly better £/GB.

When will Intel will be releasing their new line of ssds? I've been looking at the OCZ 120gb 3.5 drive, the mouse is currently hovering over the buy button :p

Should I wait a bit longer then?

EDIT: by the way what's happening with your kit shadow boxer? I saw it on the MM price check the other day. Sorry, I'm a nosey sod :p

How many posts do i need? :)

From what i can gather i think Intel will be releasing their newest line of SSD's
in February. Havent been able to find any new news about them since last year though.

250 posts for MM :)

and cheers, I'll wait then if it's only going to be a month or so.

Vid with hovis plz?

i might be exagerating a bit :D, it's my first SSD thou and it's brand new, I'll count the seconds when I get home. But its really really fast, coolest component i ever bought. Sometimes, windows loads before my monitor shows any images, its wicked lol

Yes, Intel will be releasing their newest line of 'r25nm nand flash' SSD's
in February.

But it would appear there will be a bigger jump in performance with the new 'SandForce SF-2000' SSD that is due for release later on this year.

Ha! Had a bit of an itch that need scratching.:p

All this talk of Sandy Bridge and RAM prices how they are at the moment. Plus quite fancy an SSD but no Sata 3 support on my motherboard.

Decided against it for the time being tho. Will hang on to it for a little longer, maybe relegate my cpu/mobo/RAM to Dad's machine at home in the Summer.

Been doing a bit more overclocking and seems my 920 D0 is better than I thought. 4.3GHz stable but can't quite get 4.4GHz just yet.

Hmm i hadn't even considered a raid 0 setup. Forgive the noobish question about it but is there a noticeable benefit?

I'm also wanting to know if I go raid 0 on two vertex 2 e
What kind of speeds will I get,

I have the new Ocz ibis 100gb and my windows does not boot as quick as 7 seconds

Nicee aha I thought I'd ask as I was tempted to jump on the SB bandwagon as well. Decided against it in the end like you, as the cost outweighed the performance gain (especially with prices on the increase again).

Going to wait until later in the year and review the situation then. I'm really after a decent 6 core as I've been from a quad to a quad already. Don't fancy doing it again, but it's easy to get caught up in the hype ;)

Anyways, back on topic! :p

Am in the same kind of situation as the OP, although I have been considering the Crucial 64GB C300 for my upcoming SB build. I will wait for more information about Intel's new stuff though.

Oh, and one more post towards MM and free shipping :D
