The not so dynamic and hungover duo, me and my brother turned up for his car this morning. It wasnt ready so we drank all the coffee in the showroom seating area then i went out to watch them doing the final bits, like number plates and fuel.

First impression was i still dont like the look of these cars outside, i think he should have gone for black to disguise the rear pillars, but of course not my choice and he seems happy.

Inside different story and that digital/virtual dash as they call it is a marvel to behold, fantastic bit of kit that. Very clear just excellent.

Getting in the drivers seat with the door closed, its still retained that cacooned Jaguar feeling, wide centre console etc, iv always loved that.

Playing with the stereo produced some wickid tuuuuuuunes to bump along to, cos of course me and him are big into the DJ scene ;) Good stereo anyway. 1200 watts and 20 speakers apparently.

Its the long wheel base version so plenty of room in the back, all in a really nice place to be. Picnic tables seperate climate buttons etc.

The boot opens on its own and closes when you press a button, i like gadgets like that.

The leather inside is very good, perfect stitching, fit and finish are right up there with the best no rattles or groans.

Start it up and ..... nothing, silence, i dont mean quiet i mean you cant hear anything, thats some super sonic soundproofing they did there. Thats a big 5 litre engine and you just cant hear it, perfect in this sort of car.

Get under way and the ride isnt as soft as you expect from a Jag, big wheels not helping in that respect, but once under way what a lovely drive, i knew these were a good drive from the diesel ones i tried, but this is just superb, its only a second quicker to 60 than a diesel apparently but it just feels better to me.

Pressing the flag button by the gear selector sharpens things up a lot,it also makes all the dials come over with like a red mist, and booting it does produce the beans, neither of us are any sort of driving gods, so i cant tell you about the handling but for what my brother wants it for, driving to Spain, driving on motorwatys here and sitting in London traffic jams its got to be right up there with anything.

Would it be my 75k? Probably not i think i would have 75k worth of Flying Spur if i needed 4 doors. Him me brother, he's buzzing cant wait to fill it with bits of metal from his scrap yard and Mcdonalds wrappers :)

I hate the new jags; they've lost all of the distinctive look that made jags stand out from the crowd. I'm sure they're still great cars but, really, would anyone be surprised if that car was made BMW, Audi or Mercedes?

Still, I hope your brother loves it :)

Is it me or is the Camera making it look longer?

What an interior. That is gorgeous. Now thats a mint interior, not a bloody VAG mobile.

Personally I like the rear, nice and chunky!

If I was nit picking, from the pictures at least the rear carpet looks like it's come from a french parcel shelf :p

I remember making a thread about how ugly these were when they came out - I'm not so sure now!

It looks very, very sleek

Can't say I'm a fan of that exterior.

But that interior more than makes up for it. I'd prefer needles rather than a digital tacho/speedometer though.

I really rally like the look of these, all over. Never a fan of the old style Jag. This and the XF are very imposing cars. I'd move out of the way for one on any road
