I've read and heard so much about sum guy who said the world will end 2012 bla bla, heck i can even remember my best mates mum telling me about the world ending in 2012 when i was like 14...

Is it the same guy that predicted "2 great giants would fall (twin towers)" (Nostradamus)?

So whats the deal? is it supposed to be our judgement day or what?

Personally i dont believe in any of that mumbo jumbo, in the 1000's of years we've been around nobody has ever had "special powers" to see in to the future.... So why do so many people seem to believe it?

Personally tho if the world were to end in 2012 i recon it will be Yellowstones volcano erupting, Dam that thing freaks me out!

I think its a win/win .... on the one side if its true then prehaps there is something after death and that there is meaning to our existence and that life has always had a definitive start and end date... However on the other side if its doesn't come true.... Great... more time to level another World of Warcraft alt!

Way to much for a Friday afternoon but meh.... Any one got any thoughts?

People will believe anything. Publishing houses are feeding newspapers with the odd bit of copy. Because they want to sell books.

Chat shows get the authors on who will push it to sell books.

The only people giving it the time of day are the hard of thinking.
 
There are about 4 billion other threads.

I think the best response is the couple of NASA folks, basically rubbishing the whole thing and telling the world to STFU...

2012, world wont end. Excuses will be made for Mayan calendar, new "coming soon" date for world end will be announced.
Makes me feel sad when you see so many people online buying into it.
 
Will I well tell you something, I know the world won't will be ending willever way you look at it.

True... I promise you i am in no way a believer that it will end in 2012 but it intrigues me how newspapers seem to do double spread pages on ways the world will end haha!

But at the same time to me its interesting because if something did happen in 2012 that caused the world to end would likely mean that there is something beyond this life if you get me.... because in my mind Religion is nothing more than the tale of santa claws gone to far... But like everything in life i'd love to know the truth!

The people saying it won't are as bad as the people saying it will, none of you can prove what will or won't happen in the future. So just kick back, hope it won't end in 2012 but live like it will :)

Don't agree.

Live your life like it won't end in 2012. Otherwise you'll start 2013 in terrible shape.
 
The world is over populated, there is too much male testosterone kicking around and we are having to decommission a tonne of nuclear warheads because they are getting dusty.

As Penn and Teller offered, anyone who believes the world is going to end in 2012...

I will purchase your home from you for £2,000. You may live there rent free until 2012 (the end).

If nothing happens though, your home is mine and you will have to leave. So, how firm are some of these beliefs? ;)
 
Ok. Now what does "Mutually assured destruction will out" mean? I understand the concept of the nuclear deterrant, it's the will out that makes no sense to me.
