I am buying a Corsa

The Corsa isn't nice at all - it's a particularly poor car and you can do better whilst at the same time retaining the features you want in your first car. Pretty much any available small car is superior to the Corsa, but the standout models would have to be something like a 2002 onwards Ford Fiesta, or a Seat Ibiza, or something like a Skoda Fabia.

Leave the Corsa for people who know no better. You've taken the first step towards not buying a drossy crap car by actually asking advice. People who buy Corsas go out and buy them because they know nothing about cars, they think it looks nice, and because they've likely never driven a decent car so don't notice how crap it is.

What is this based on? I really fail to see how a fiesta, ibiza or fabia are massively leagues ahead of the GM mobile.

If youre not too busy trolling perhaps you could explain it for me

What do you think its based on? My experiences in Corsa C's. I strongly dislike them for the reasons I have stated - they are poorly built, they dont drive very well, I just see no reason to buy them when there are numerous other cars of the same type and same price which are simply better.

But you don't really care what my reasons are, you just popped in to insult me as your last sentance demonstrates.

OP, buy another car. If you do buy a Focus, do not spend £2000 on a 1.4 Focus. Infact, just don't buy a 1.4 Focus.

I'm inclined to say buy a cheap 1.25 Fiesta. Save the difference. Rack up some no claims bonus. And then buy something more interesting.

Youre going to say youre not trolling with a sig like that?

Im not discrediting your opinion - ofcourse you are free to that. Ive plenty of experience in driving and working on both and just really fail to see the clear cut comparisons of these budget hot hatches.

Fabias are ridiculous boring and ugly (IMO) with expensive VAG parts to match. Nevermind the additional weight and VAG "Very little comes as standard" approach to life.
Enjoy your tape deck and wind up windows.

Fiesta and corsa are so similar.. the fiesta is plastic fantastic inside as is the corsa. Both drive like crap and have little bhp - but its an entry level hatch so not much is expected.

A corsa sxi (as mentioned in the OP) will have a cd player with steering wheel control, full electrics (mirrors included - Ford arent as big on this but you do get a boot popper..) and a relatively recent engine. Its 75bhp and perfectly acceptable.

Parts wise its easy to maintain if you look after it like any car with the only major failing being the re-called electronics of the facelifted models which the OP doesnt have the budget for.

Theyre not poorly built but neither are they well built.

Im still failing to see the connection.

Im not a vauxhall fanboy but neither do I understand the clear cut dislike

It's not trolling, it's humour. I made it when somebody asked me to have a sig, it's an ironic joke which most of the regulars took in good faith. It's also a photograph of an event run by Vauxhall which I have attended and actually did have a lot of fun doing. Why is 'trolling' the current in-word of all of a sudden?

Wait are we discussing supercars or something? I thought we were talking about shopping trolleys - they are all boring and ugly.

There are numerous Fabia models with electric windows. My girlfriends Corsa has windup windows in the back...

The Fiesta is better built and drives better. It feels like a more complete, more polished car.

It's a sub par car and no amount of CD player will fix that. Wow, CD's.

I'm 100% with Fox here

The Fiesta, Fabia and Ibiza are head and shoulders better than the Corsa.

It's not trolling - it's a perfectly valid opinion shared by plenty of us on motors with experience of these cars!

The Corsa has the benefit of steering so vague you can't tell which way the wheels are pointing. All small cars do one thing well, the Fiesta is good to drive, the Fabia and Polo are solid and mostly reliable, a 1.5dci Clio will be economical yet the Corsa does NOTHING well.

I have driven three different Corsa Cs and one D. I hope I'm qualified for some sort of opinion on how rubbish the Corsa is.

Actually the one good thing about the Corsa I am exposed to the most is the engine isn't bad for what it is, but then like every single good aspect of any Vauxhall, it's actually made by somebody else.

CDs arent new age at all but when a car only has a tape deck and a radio it can be a pain.

Its no better and no worse than a fiesta but then you have a fairly forged opinion.
Let the OP make his own decisions.

So buy one with a CD player. Or get one from Halfords or something. You dont choose a model of car based on whether it has a CD player.

Its no better and no worse than a fiesta

So you think its exactly the same and there is nothing to choose between them?

Let the OP make his own decisions.

Last time I checked this was a motoring discussion forum.

Do you own a Corsa by any chance?

If a CD player bothers you so much, you can easily fit a 6CD Ford CD player from a MK1 Focus in a MK4/MK5 Fiesta. It's a ten min job, costs around £100 and beats buying a crap car so you can play your clubland CDs.

No I dont own a corsa - I much prefer my bike.

I do have a 118k mile astra coupe in perfectly fine health (Apparently vauxhalls fall apart) but I cant proclaim to driving much since passing my bike test..

The OP asked for thoughts about a car he was interested in and hes been given very little evidence of anything to go on except for "I dislike this car"

Why does your gf drive a corsa fox? Surely you should have advised her better.

I drove this bad boy for 7 years.
