It makes a lot of sense indeed. If there was a confirmed terrorist takeover of the the plane and the target is london, it would make sense to shoot the plane down or at least cripple it to avoid it happening.

Well one guy isnt going to take over the plane, and even in the event of that im not sure they would even shoot it down.
