it's decorating time soon.

i know you either love it or hate but our wife's like a nice house so a few questions is in order from me i think.

got 3 room's to do this year.

living room/dining room 37 feet long and 18 feet wide.
kitchen (only small)
bathroom (only small)

i want to try these paint pads ive seen in diy stores and on tv so i was thinking if anyone has used them before.
is there any decorators on here that use them ?

im not shy to diy so will try anything for a easy life.

any link to said paint pads would also be a help as well.

The issue being the cost of paint for them.... They may save time but they sure don't save money.

Jcb33.

Cost of the paint?

I'm under the impression the OP is talking about paint "pads", like sponges with handles, you use them like a roller.

The expensive gimmicky stupid things are paint "pods" and yes they are more expensive and less useful than a solid gold dog turd.

Yeah ignore me, I read it as pod... That Dulux thing that only uses Dulux brand paint.... Sorry!

They are easy to use but don't spread as far as rollers. Far less messy though. Don't heave the pad with paint as it will look like unsilghtly brush marks. As I said though, nice and easy to use

I need to paint my living room and bedroom. Anyone got any colour suggestions? I don't have a wife, so I have no idea what colour I should paint it...

They are a load of rubbish, professional painters and decorators dont use them, good old fashioned bristle brush/roller and plastic tray.

I helped my dad do the stairs, landing, large living room (was a living room knocked through into a bedroom) took 2 weeks, worst bit is stripping the paper off but a steamer is a tool you will need.

My God!

An accurate and informative post from cheets.

Well done Andrew \o/

We paint a couple of thousand houses and flats a year, not once do I see one of my decorators outside homebase, using a paint pad / pod / tampon, the most I see is them sometimes spraying but that's very rare. Even in refurbs I've done nope no sign of whizz paint rubbish sold on QVC.

Find a brewers or a local paint shop where all the little white vans park up every morning with guys in white overalls and speckled faces and ask for some advice on what you need.

Do not ever ever ever ever ever ever..........ever turn the light off in a room you think is ready to paint or after a first coat and shine a torch up the wall.... ever ever ever, ruined my life

Remember 90% prep 10% paint
