Rift: Planes of Telera Beta

Got an invite to the beta event starting tomorrow night, will see what its like and let you know if I'm interested in a guild (though would be casual, can't see me giving up wow any time soon) on there!

Count me in mate, I got an invite to the Beta tommorow which I'll certainly try out. At the moment I'm playing Mmo's on a casual basis as I'm subbed to a couple of others. There's only so many Mmo's one man can satisfy.

That makes 9 people now for the guild, hopefully if this beta goes well we can get a few more and start getting stuff sorted. Anybody else want to join us? Just for numbers at the moment so no faction or server has been picked.

I love just sitting down in my spare time and going on the soul planners and trying to think of different ones, at the moment I am thinking of a stealthy ranged rogue.
 
Whats everyones opinion of the type of server to play on? Pretty much every MMO ive played ive gone for a PVE server, but with the dynamics of the Rift system/invasions and the way you can interact with them, its looking like open world PvP could be really, really fun. Just seems to me that the game lends itself quite nicely to that style of play. What do you think?
 
PvP! always loved PvP would be great if we could go to a pvp server. Is there going to be a guild formed or is this just an idea in the making at the moment?
 
Depends on what they mean by an open PvP server - if you own side can gank you it'll be a pain, but if it just means you can attack the enemy whenever and wherever, that would be very cool.

probablty something like a swashbuckler in EQ2 with the correct spec

you could easily solo some of the group instances then with the right gear :)

Well we gotta decide what server type aswell. I would rather a pvp server but it is up to you lot. As for faction I am not too bothered as it is beta.
 
Anyone got a decent resource/guide site to get me started? My brother and I are looking to go tank/healer, although a lot of mmos let you go pretty far as a heavy armour dps + healer, does this game really "need" tanks for leveling?

To compare, currently wow is screwed beyond belief below around 75, you don't need a tank for a lot of "group" quests or instances.

well you could always roll a dps tank or a tanky scout just have a look at the soul planner :)

apart from that i cant really help
