60hz or 120hz for gaming?

I think the fairly horrible colours are offset by the lack of smearing and tearing, being actually able to see something when you turn is a bit of a revelation for me.

120hz on panning in an RTS alone is worth it.

HL2 with cinematic mod was driving along at 100+ FPS and was truly, truly GLASS smooth on 120hz
It was insane actually

Do I just have really unresponsive eyes? I do well enough at snap shooting and the like when running around like a loony in BO/MW2 (my playing style - SMG and the sprint button) without distraction. Oh well... Guess I don't need 120Hz - easier to cater for :p

peoples eyes are different, or eyes/brain. personaly i can detect 60hz flicker (crt/3d glasses), but for gaming, 120hz is really nice, u just need a more powerful system as you go from wanting 60fps~ to 120fps~

Quoted for truth.

I've just installed the cinematic mod to use with 3D Vision, hoping to have a good play with it over the weekend.

*Waiting for 27 inch 120Hz monitors on Ocuk*

They would likely be Displayport-only, as no other display connector has the bandwidth required for 2560x1440@120Hz*. And Displayport-only makes it a niche product (in the short term, too few people have displayport outputs to make use of), which means nobody will bother to introduce it. And only the very latest version of Displayport is good enough, by the way, which (I think) only the AMD 6x00 series graphics cards have. I also doubt we'll see them for a long time because of the lack of innovation by monitor/panel makers. The introduction of 120Hz monitors (at unremarkable resolutions) is the only substantial change I've noticed in the market since 2008 at least (when I last bought a monitor!). Other than the increasing dominance of 16:9 monitors, that is, which is the opposite of innovation.

Arcane good luck, as for me cinematic mod wouldn't launch once it 'knew' 3D was there:(

Shame as its an easy engine to run in 3D...

Try prototype in 3D thats' wow

Im stuck between the Samsung P2450H and the BenQ XL2410T.

I know one is 60Hz and one is 120Hz thats great but is it really worth the extra £120 for it? and will i see a difference as the sammy looks like an excellent monitor.

I do game often so would i notice much difference between the two as ive always played on 60Hz LCD and its been fine as i dont seem to notice any sort of lag or anything really?

Could do with some help as i want to buy soon.

Thanks

Given your system I don't think it would sustain the kind of framerates necessary to get the most out of a 120Hz monitor. From what I've tested the Samsung provides superior image quality so unless you plan on upgading your system shortly I think your decision is made.

Hi PCM forgot to change my Sig

Now on an I7 2600K with a 6970 and 8GB Corsair vengence forgot to mention sorry.

Should i still go for the 60 or 120 Hz?

Thanks
